Good value for money
After playing the PGA national I was kean to try the Derby. The Derby Plays shorter and gives good opportunities for plenty of pars If finding the fairways. I play off 14 and found it a lot more enjoyable than that PGA as more of a realistic test for my ability. Only down side weren’t the Greens whixh worse than you’d expect, quite bobbly and looked abit battered in places.
Caught behind a VERY slow 4 ball (held up around 3 groups) but that happens at every course so can’t penalise to much for that. Overall, excellent value for money though.
The Belfry Derby course
Always a real pleasure to play at the Belfry, the course was good for the time of the year and the staff are always very polite and friendly
Belfry
Excellent course,, very enjoyable, friendly staff and other golfers...great afternoon
Belfry Derby course
All I can say is corporate greed
Booked for 1.48 pm they changed tee time to 2.12 pm and too many people on the course
The staff at the Belfry didn’t care much for the golf experience only interested in making money
poor staff relations
Below Par
Nice parkland course nothing special thought considering it was the belfry it would be better than it was even though it was their 3rd course.
Played better courses for less money Walsall and wishaw are prime examples
Underrated
A very flat & forgiving golf course especially when compared with the Brabazon which I have played three times now. The front nine feels very municipal course where the back nine is more scenic. Highly recommended. Definitely underrated.
Lovely place
What you would expect from a premier golf complex,
Well organised, well run, lovely course in good condition considering time of year.
Shame the bar is so expensive, 2 coffees £11
Derby course
It might be overlooked in favour of its more illustrious sister courses but don’t be out of playing this little gem at 6000 yards it’s no pitch and putt course and it will test all your clubs and know how
There’s something for everyone what ever your standards of Golf very enjoyable and in great condition for the time of year
Delayed Tee time
Course was great, but this is the 3rd time Tee Off Time incorrectly confirm a tee time that was not available. Had to wait a further 40-mins for a time
Winter Deal with Wife
Having been to Belfry on other occasions thought it only decent to take the wife so she could have a day out at short notice. Found a deal on the internet and booked it up for single golfer - she walks courses with me, so I am lucky. Weather was changeable - NEVER BELIEVE BBC WEATHER - it said mild!!.
Didn't spoil the fun and she kept the score, even though we were getting wet - good thing she wore my spare waterproof trousers.
The greeting was good on arrival
All staff very friendly and wife was impressed.
Only issue was that Sam's Bar was only place on site you could get food at 3pm on Monday....missing a trick here...
Wife said she would like to go back when we can see it during the warmer climate...keeping my eyes peeled for deals....
Too busy for an enjoyable round.
The group in front were only just teeing off by out tee time. They had a 4 ball in front of them causing a delay. Had to wait before taking every shot. The roaming marshal only seemed interested in getting us right up the of the group in front and kept saying the gap in front of the 4 ball was a 'natural gap' At one point we had the 3 groups behind us all waiting as we teed off. I saw the 4 ball having a good 5 minute discussion before teeing off with no one in front of them. If the marshalls aren't going to make groups like this pick up and skip a hole after fair warning, they need to leave longer between tee times. I was fed up after 9, and losing the will to live after 15. Group in front said their round was ruined, group behind were angry. Think this venue will always get custom because of their fame so cram golfers on the courses like cattle and charge the earth for pretty umipressive food.
Exceptional value
We have played the Derby on a number of occasions however this was the first time on doing so via GolfNow. Value-wise, it literally can't be beaten. The only complaints were that the group in front were a little slow and a couple of greens were not in the best condition, although this was an exception as they were generally lightning quick and healthy. Would definitely play again at the price we played.
this course is easy distance wise.
I WOULD RETURN TO PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN.YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO SCORE LOW BECAUSE IT HAS QUITE A SHORT YARDAGE,ALSO FAIRWAYS AND GREENS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.
Worst golfing experience ever
I have been playing golf for about 8 years and this was the worst golf experinence ever, bar none. I understand the Derby course is the 3rd course at the Belfry, but the experience was so bad I won't be returining.
So where do I begin, I booked a round for 2 and on arrivial was told that we would have to play with another pair, no prior warning but fair enough. We make our way to the first tee and there are 3 other 4 balls hovering around the first! My group makes it four.
Slow would be an understament, I think it took us just over 6 hours to get round. At one point the course marshall tells us to speed up, this only darkens my mood. Besides from getting a hole in one on every hole I not sure how I could achieve this. Maybe if the belfry had not over booked this would not have been a problem.
Other things, the bunkers were full of stones, my friend nearly getting hit by a ball, nobody bothered to warm him, fairways were in average condition.
Do your self a favour and save your money, there are plenty of council courses nearby which are better value for money. Avoid.
