Lovely course
Great quality course! has been damp in the run up to our round, and only 2 notable "damp" areas of surface water, that were very small, so great drainage in general, especially considering the amount of water hazards around the course, which made for a few really interesting and testing holes. Our tee time was 5:30am, so I can't speak of pace of play or how busy it may get at peak times.
It was a more expensive round, but the care for the course in the form of freshly raked bunkers, quality greens and lovely fresh resin cart paths meant you can really see where the extra money goes, so for me, that makes it great value for money.
Half way house wasn't open as we went past, but was well located right next to the 10th tee box and the lady working it was setting up for cooked breakfast sandwiches and drinks, so would be a great addition.
The clubhouse had a very clean and professional looking bar/restaurant area, and the cooked breakfast was great quality.
It also looked to have a vehicle wash service while you play, it wasn't operational at the time so can't confirm this, but could be an interesting feature if this is the case.
All in all, this a great course, and would love to play it in the peak of summer, definitely worth the extra money per round.
Early April round
The course was in great condition given how wet the early months of the year have been. I booked for 1 player and was able to play alone for the whole round, pace of play was very good. This was the day after storm “David” hit the UK so the wind was still gusting to over 30mph, which surprisingly didn’t slow play.
I’ve played here a number of times and keep coming back for more. One of the better courses in the area at a very reasonable green fee.
Nice finishing few holes
Nice course particularly last 5 holes. Bit average before that in all honesty and a few nothing holes but definitely reccomend to a mid/high handicapper who wants to play a better course as its very open but also a decent course. At £30 it was decent value. Bunkers were excellent as was the facilities. Greens were a nice pace but definitely not as slopey as they look. Left nearly every putt high! Reccomend at £30 but probably wouldn't pay any more.
Jewell of a Course
Played this course for the first time today, only the front 9 but I have to say, its the best course I have played locally, including all 3 courses at the Belfry, Given the weather we have had in January and Februaryit is not boggy anywhere, in perfect condition. So booked 18 for next weekend and will review that too when complete, did not go into clubhouse but this place is a gem, With driving range for a warm up, pace of play brilliant. Thankyou Aston Wood, guys in the pro shop also freindly and welcoming.
Great course
Course was great overall, forgiving but also an interesting challenge. Course played well given the recent weather, wet and muddy in places which knocked down the condition scores but the club did all they could to make it playable despite the recent weather. Got an afternoon tee time for a good price but I could imagine this course being a bit expensive come the summer months. But with that said, it would be worth the money as I can imagine the course will be excellent to play in the summer. Good shop and clubhouse area, would definitely recommend.
Rain mearly stopped play
The course suffered from torrential rain ... fairways ok generally but tee boxes were very soft and most green were holding puddles of water making it impossible to putt... should of probably walked off and asked for a refund but we were soaking wet and decided to plod on ... would not play this course in rain again or borher with it after a few days rain.

Aston wood GC
One of the best value courses in the midlands! Excellent staff, facilities, the course is well maintained and looked after!
Course was excellent considering hot baked summer conditions for the money. Greens were pure and fast!
We always play here if we can.
Good test, greens impressive
Much improved over the years, the course provides a very good test for most golfers and requires good course management on most holes. Although it is fairly flat there is enough undulation, variety and a few dog legs to keep everyone interested.
The clubhouse is large and comfortable offering a wide range of drinks and food,
There is also a very good driving range with well-stocked shop.
Great greens
Considering it’s been dry for all o g time the greens were on excellent condition you could actually stop a ball with a wedge, whereas other courses the greens are getting bare and the ball does not hold.
No toilets
Had a tee time before 7am, but pro shop not open and no access to toilets or no signs to were toilets may be located.
A part from this lovely course.
