Belfry Golf Club - The Derby Course

The Derby is probably the poor cousin of the Brabazon and PGA. It's not a bad course, but for the green fees charged, not great value. Recommend 2 for 1 in this case.

Fantastic complex, as you'd expect from such an historical venue. Run very efficiently.

First day back on the course after Lockdown, the greens were terrible. After such a long break I expected the greens to have been in tip top condition, sadly full of humps and hollows.

Nice course and beautiful complex, greens were in awful shape but can’t really complain for £25. Will definitely be coming back.

Very nice course with plenty of forgiving hole's for the beginner. But still would challenge experienced golfers. Would play here again for sure.

A great day around a challenging course which was coping well with the amount of rain we have had recently. Tee boxes and the fairways were in top condition for so late in the year. Greens were extremely receptive thanks to the rain but were still fast and had plenty of turn. Some greens were heavily sanded in patches, but that’s not uncommon for time of year, but it didn’t affect putts too much. Can’t wait to come back and play the Derby again and try the other 2 courses as well

The derby course didn’t have much about it to make you remember it or want to come back and play it again but it was good enough for £25. The course was in good condition for winter and was friendly to all levels of golfer with it being quite open off the tee.

We had had the pleasure of playing the Brabazon course at the Belfry a few weeks ago and I had suggested to my playing partner that we come back sometime and play the easier and cheaper Derby course sometime. Yesterday we made the trip up from Brackley and we had a fantastic day. From the moment we arrived we were treated SO well. Check in was effortless and then the guys who drive you over to the first tee were so friendly.

We came up behind a 4 ball on the 3rd tee who immediately let us through and we never looked back. Finished our round in 3 hours 8 minutes and found the lovely van driver waiting to take us back to the clubhouse.

The course was in great condition and the greens were fantastic.

Well done the Belfry. We will be back!!!

Over the phone price I was quoted £45!!!! To play on the derby course, I have never know it to be that expensive. I booked online at a rate of £25 however after playing it was not worth the money! I have recently played better maintained courses in the Midlands area for cheaper.

Played 18 holes. Overall the course was well maintained, greens were in good nick. Fantastic facilities on site, with helpful and friendly staff who drop off and pick up at the first tee.

What can I say the staff on arrival were very helpful with the new restrictions because of the virus, we were taken to the first tee via a mini bus, and told on route, how the course was set up for the day, pin placement etc, On course fairways where in great condition rough was deep, although fairway are very wide,

The greens were excellent condition, but very very fast, down hill putts only need a slight touch to travel 10 feet, overall if you can, go, you will not be disappointed

Considering the rain the course was in excellent condition. Never any temp greens. The Derby suits new players like me. The fairways are wide and forgiving but there are a variety of challenges to overcome. I played the PGA course at the Belfry recently which is much tougher. In the winter the Derby course is an excellent option, always in good condition. The staff are friendly and it’s easy to book.

For the start of February and the conditions we’ve had of late the conditions of this course are great and the fact it’s only £17 a round is simply unbelievable! Some of the staff could be a bit friendlier and it was extremely busy so your constantly either feeling rushed or standing around waiting but not bad at all considering how busy it was and got round in around 4 and 1/2 hours. Greens did have pitch fork marks but were filled with sand but still played very quick and strait.

All in all like I said at the start for the time of year and the weather we’ve had over the last few weeks it really is the best coarse conditions I’ve played since November and for £17 I will 100% be booking up to play it again

Course in good condition considering all the rain. Should try and not cram so many in as just makes the game slow

Love playing this course,, alittle wet but the greens where in fantastic condition and very fast.. definitely we be playing again.

Play regularly here, whatever time of the year you play all courses are in great condition.

Staff always friendly & helpful both in the shop, bar & green keeping staff always hard at work
