Same old story
Come here on a gorgeous day, i know its gonna be busy but there’s definitely people who jump on and play, people who just play one side of the course and dont wanna go over the bridge. Rate of play was slow with the amount of people. We finished quite late and the gates where locked. Saving graces that it was a decent day, the course is well looked after and with good mates.
Good course layout, better queue management needed
I tee’d off at shortly after 8:30. There were a couple of groups behind me as i did tee off. Fortunately nobody ahead of me, so was able to get ahead and finish my round in 3 hours.
Course is well laid out. One green was waterlogged. The course could do with more maintenance but its not bad.
Others complained about the issue with queue management where you can book a tee time but it doesn’t really matter as you can pay and play anyway. One guy spoke to me about this issue too. Maybe it might be an idea to having to book during peak times?
Poor Golf Etiquette
I was a single player, booked 11:40 but arrived early. Course check in where happy for me to go on and try and play through. On course was met with poor etiquette where groups In front where not allowing me to play through and groups behind taking shots landing within my vicinity. I am a 14 handicap and don't play slow. I was very dissapointed with my round and walked off after 9 holes taking 3 hours. Sad because I like this course.
Ok
Course was ok. Fairways didn't feel like they've been cut in a while and seemed quite long. Some of the greens were in poor condition also. Thought it was a little pricy at £25 just due to the condition of the course. Holes 5 to 11 have improved a lot though and isn't as boggy even with all the rain we've had so definitely improvements over there.
Greens in need of some TLC
Greens are desperate for some maintenance and watering. Everything else was good and the facilities were spot on. Will try again in a month or so as it’s good and local.
Patchy uneven tired
The state of all of the greens really needs to be looked at! A park course with public footpaths running through it I know but it doesn’t take much to seed and water the greens! Bunkers could also do with having some sand in them!
Excellent value Parkland
First time playing this course, really enjoyable. Quite busy during our round but finished well inside of 4 hours so no worries there. The course was in great condition, the overnight rain had made some spots tough to play from but overall fine. Some challenging holes mixed with some you can really attack. Great course for beginners and experienced players alike. Watch out for dog walkers!
Overall, really good value for money and we will definitely come back.
Won’t be going back unfortunately
Group of 3, got charged full price and the course was dreadful, greens were flooded fairways and rough was just sludge and my friend even stood in some dog poo on a fairway. Wont be going back unfortunately
Not impressed
Tuned up 15 mins before tee time. 4 groups waiting on the tee. A three ball was 40 mins late teeing off, because they were waiting for someone to show up. This resulted in us teeing off 30 mins late, a very slow round. Walked off after 14 holes as it was going dark. 4 hours 5 minutes to play 14 holes! Mentioned to staff on the way out. They didn't care! Won't be returning any time soon.
Bring plenty of balls
I like the layout of the course. The only issue with playing in Autumn is finding your ball. Also I do find the grass to be rather long in places.
I have played the course when it’s not Autumn and it does play better then!
Course is a bit of care and a regular trim away from being better.
Overall great value
First time playing here. No one behind us and no one ahead so relaxed pace of play.
With a bit more care and attention this course could be one of the best in merseyside. Really enjoyed it nonetheless. Will be back
Improved golf course and facilities
I was impressed with well kept course and new bar area. Massive improvement since I was last here
Golf review
Great value for money, decent course, well maintained.
Wild West Golf
Tried to play this course a couple of weeks ago but 14 people waiting on the 1st tee. I looked on this as a one off and tried to play again, big wait on the 1st tee again, when I tried to explain to a 3 ball that my tee time was next an aggressive guy said he was a member and members take preference, I asked what his tee time actually was and he said members don't need a tee time that can play when they want,
When I tried to explain to him that everyone has a tee time or the pro shop would not be able to have any control he again stayed this is not the case st Bowring Park, I then ignored his latent aggression to declare that every golf course has defined tee times, later his playing partner admitted their tee time was 10 minutes after me. Other than this pathetic member people playing with no shirts on. 3 players playing from one bag a 5 balls all was good, not.
Amazing course
Fantastic municipal golf course. Fantastic prices and course conditions. Some amazing holes with great scenery. Well worth a visit for a round and a post round pint at the coach house on site
Value for money
Course in good order, tees need moving/looking at. Greens fast, fairways cut nicely. More signs needed. Enjoyed the round. Will go back at some point.
Course in great condition
Course is in lovely condition at the minute. Only thing that let it down was the speed of play. Waiting at every tee for about 5 or 10 minutes. Stuck behind a five ball that wouldn't let others through. Apart from that one let down the course was great. Couldn't also definitely do with some rakes in the bunkers. Think we saw two rakes on all 18 holes.
