Winter Golf
So being winter after rain, only 10 holes open and all on temporary greens. So just used the time to practice certain parts off my game. £10 for the round
A Round at Brierley Forest Golf Club
£10 is an excellent value for a mid-week round. The entrance to the course might be a bit confusing, but once you're on the course, you'll find a nice layout with a good mix of long and short holes. Holes 6 and onward offer more variety, with the 6th being a difficult stroke index 1 par 5. The front 9 is 3175 yards, and the back 9 is 2348 yards (both from the yellow tees). The members were friendly and allowed me to play through when I caught up with them. The gentleman in the bar area was polite and helpful. Overall, it's an excellent value for money, and I would recommend it for societies or anyone looking for a good value for money option. Other golf clubs could consider adopting a similar approach to fill a few spaces midweek for an excellent value for money green fee. I would certainly consider playing in the summer, as the course, like many others, probably wasn't playing quite its best now that we're into October.

Great condition
Played here for the first time, cold wet morning and the greens are in great condition, fairways very nice, definitely worth the money, we will be coming back.
A perfect example of never judge a book by it's cover.
For £15 i wasn't expecting anything good but what a surprise great course
A lovely course
We had never played here despite only being 30 minutes away. Set in a old pit village the people we met were very friendly, the course an unexpected challenging layout. It's not huge with some short par 4s but to get to the green with your second short the first shot needs to be thought about, to avoid being blocked out by trees, avoid ditches etc.
We all really enjoyed it and would happily return. I suspect funds are tight as the car parks are not the best and some areas need some tlc, hence the overall 4 star rating.
Affordable golf
For the price, you absolutely can’t go wrong. Buggy battery was flashing from hole 13 so that put us on edge a bit, but overall a nice course with very tricky greens
Pleasantly surprised
After going through the housing estate and into the ex pub clubhouse thinking this could be a naff course we were pleasantly surprised with the course. It was well maintained, great layout and challenging. I’d definitely play here again.
Brierley Forest GC is a great course for the money, a good challenge and definitely worth a visit…Ok, the bunkers could do with some TLC and the rough is brutal. But for what you pay it’s a great challenge…
Layout is good but the conditions are not
With this course being surrounded by extremely expensive GC's like Coxmoor and Sherwood the price for a round does not seem too bad until you play the course.
Struggles with drainage which admittedly cannot be helped, but it makes the course very difficult to play with even the slightest bit of rain.
Green are very poor and bobbly which can and should be fixed, Brown patches, pitch marks etc.
Course layout is very good. Challenging holes, some long some short, if the course was maintained better it would be perfect but unfortunately the maintenance is just is not kept to a high enough standard.
Overall it is not a terrible golf course, it gets you playing different shots and the layout is good. Conditions need to be kept to a higher standard though for it to be considered worth the price.
Great course
Played here before 3 years ago, it’s changed the layout to better advantage for golfers
