Challenging course some really difficult holes as well as some easier ones enjoyable though .good facilities , bar and food driving range with track
Man and indoor golf simulator
Beautiful course
First time playing Tapton all the facilities were great staff were really friendly. The course was great lots of different features on every hole to make it interesting will definitely book again also great value for money
Good value
The course is in really good nick. Fairways were perfect and the course is a good challenge of most players. Always worth a visit especially at the price
Good challenge
A decent course with some challenging holes.
Unfortunately a couple of the greens had been driven over by bikes but nothing the club can do about that but nothing of significance that caused any problems.
Overall course was in good condition but greens were quite slow
Average at best, good potential
Course tee to green is in pretty good condition, odd tee box need some work. The greens on the other hand aren't in a good state. A few have been vandalised, which is out of their control so no issues there. There are however a lot of greens that are just in a poor state, rough, bare patches, bobbly, making pace impossible to judge and by the looks of it, none have been mowed for a fair few days. If the greens were in better condition then Thai course would be great.
Pleasant round
The clubhouse has moved to the driving range since we last played Tapton. After finding the new 'clubhouse' we were warmly welcomed, if a bit casual. The 1st tee is now the short par 3 which was the 3rd. This confused my Garmin watch for a while.
The course was in a generally average condition, although the greens were particularly good despite evidence that they had been abused by off road motorbikes. Thankfully repairs had been undertaken and had recovered well. The tees, however, were not so good and definitely in need of attention
Unplayable
The course should be shut with how bad the conditions were. Great range and super friendly staff but it was like a slip and slide all the way round. Some of the greens were soaked and plugging really bad.
Very nice to play
As expected ground very wet, mix of grass and temp tee boxes, but all greens in play and in very good condition
Great course
Besides the freezing temperatures the course played really well and the greens were in great condition. We were Pleasantry surprised with the quality today
Would recommend this course and it’s priced very fairly
Greens are in great condition
I played the course the back end of the summer and didn't have a greatvl experience as the team were hollow coring the greens and players and we were playing whisky this was taking place. It's the first time back and the the greens are in fantastic condition, clearly the new course manager is having a significant impact. Other than one green, all greens had a great covering and ran true with no sign of present or past disease. I played with 2 golfers who have never played the course and were super impressed. The work on the first tee area looks great. Just two tees were off grass with others off winter mats but that's to be expected for the end of December.. there was no temporary greens, at just over £20 for a round it offers great value for money and great conditions. Well done, looking forward to where the team takes the course next.
First time, but will be back
For mid November the course is in great condition with all greens in play and no winter mats.
Lovely place
Well for late October it was a lovely course and the staff are wonderful. The greens were superb, and most with wonderful contours and shapes. Talking to the staff they told me the green keepers had worked very hard to get them like that. The fairways too were wonderful. . Some tees were a little bare but thats to be expected for this time of the year and only a few.
Keep to the fairways as the leaves in the rough and some in the semi rough are a nightmare but thats every course at this time of year. Some lovely holes, a good test.
It’s well over 30 years since I played here and the changes are excellent. Wonderful clubhouse, welcoming and very lovely staff. Plus next a super driving range with all the latest tech very reasonably rate too.
Has potential to be a great course
This review is probably isn’t too fair on the course because they are just coming off the back of their maintenance week.
Most of the tee boxes were abit chewed up and could really do with a roll to flatten them off abit while the ground is soft.
The fairways were in great condition and were easily defined.
The rough was just long enough to make it tricky to get out of, but not long enough that you couldn’t find your ball.
The greens….. had had a fair bit of work done on them and were quite patchy with plenty of fresh seeds on them, the grass was a little long and made them very slow and unpredictable, but this is expected after maintenance.
Overall the course is good, and they are doing work to make more improvements. This course in my opinion has the potential to be a great course.
Overall the course was in good shape.
The weather wasn't great but the course was in good condition and played well. Some of the holes are short but challenging dog legs.
The new addition of a driving range, cafe and shop were a welcome addition from the last time I played it.
It was great and I will be back at some point.
Returning visit
I last played the main course at Tapton at the end of March 2025, just at the start of the golfing season. The greens at the time needed work on them. I played again this week and it looks like, in the main, the greens are improving..the areas of the greens that are damaged have been tined. However after 9 holes the greens were unplayable due to hollow tining taking place, the greens had been cored the day before, however, we were expected to play on greens that had been dressed ready to be brushed in.. unplayable.
Really disappointed that there was no warning this in advance, it doesn't take much to advise the golfers before setting off..we all understand these processes need to be completed, but just warn us before we book and set off...the course would have been better shutting 9 holes and let us play 2 loops of the same 9, or at the very least, top dress and drag the green before moving to the next.
At one point I had to putt over tyre tread marks in sand...
The shop staff was nice enough on arrival but a heads up, or a sign on the first tee would have prepared us. Poor customer service really
