Fabulous scenery/ quirky course
Course in great condition, would recommend this golf course to all my friends . There are a few small quarry areas you have to watch for.
A gem
17 pound for a 8:30 Saturday morning tee I wasn't expecting the best, but I was very wrong this course is extremely well looked after
From the fairways to the greens it was perfect. The greens were very well rolled and fast. This is a tricky course for a first time visitor with plenty of blind drives to the greens but with risk comes reward and I really enjoyed the challenge of it all. The members were really welcoming and courtious which was a pleasant surprise as many courses I've played you're lucky to get a hello. I cant wait to play this course again so do yourself a favour and get it booked.
slightly underlating course
some holes driving blind to marker post.a lot of grassy hillocks to the left and right of fairway not seen from tee. greens difficult to read. this is a course you have to play more than once to get to know vagarious of it. no meals at all just coffee machine.dont let this review put you off it is a nice course.
Enjoyable visit to club
We played the course in really testing conditions, strong winds and heavy rain - would like to play it again on a calmer day.
Due to the weather we were the only people playing the course and despite the conditions, and occasionally having to look for lost balls, we got round in 3 hours.
Not a long course but great lay out and very challenging.
The pro was very helpful and provided us with a hot drink post round and spent some time chatting with us about the club/history etc.
Despite the weather, had an enjoyable visit to the club.
Inland Links Course!!
First visit, but it will not be the last. Love the course which felt like an inland links on a number of holes, which are extremely varied. Many holes contain blind tee shots, so if you are not driving straight, you could find penal rough. Hidden greens prevail, but what I liked most is the different, in a good way, feel of this course, which, is so unlike many of the others I have played.
A course of unusual features
Firstly the clubhouse is very pleasant, there was a practice net towards the back of the car park and a nice putting green on top of a hill next to the clubhouse. The tees were mostly in good condition, with a few being slightly disappointing. The greens had a top dressing applied to it which we got a discount for, but they weren't too bad. The fairways and semi-rough were both in excellent condition. The course has many interesting features and obey the BEWARE THE QUARRY signs as the quarries are very much in play. Overall a tricky course to play first time as driver is not always the best option but a very pleasant course with excellent views over the surrounding peak district
Very tough and challenging course just a shame we had 6 winter greens in play. Will definitely play there again. Great value for money.
The course was in excellent condition for the time of year, the weather was also beautiful as well which helped. The members were very helpful as well ⛳⛳
Great testy course
Got a good deal to play the course,it was a very blustery day and had been raining.
The course was in great condition considering recent weather, lovely holes, some very tricky playing over little queries etc.
Really enjoyed it and have booked to go again on the 19th!
Hopefully the wind will be a touch kinder.
Great Course - take a guide
Well worth playing this traditional course. In great condition and good use made of landscape. Some carries and humps and hollows to avoid. No strokesaver so best advice is to play with a member, as I did (thanks Barry Mc.) , as distance/carry/direction guidance is a bonus. He saved me 6 shots at least.
Buxton and High Peak
We played this course on a Saturday afternoon which was one of the hottest days of the year
The course was in cracking condition and the greens were like lightning
It's the first round we have played here and it's very similar to both Cavendish and Chapel en le Frith golf courses
Some of the holes have quite a linksy feel to them
It's not overly long or hilly and offers something for everyone would recommend to anyone
Fast greens.tough test
Really enjoyed this course..holes 4/5/6 were terrific.really links like .im a 28 handicap so found it tough going.uphill quite a lot of holes.would defo recommend .course in great condition.staff helpful and a nice pint of Stella in the 19th
First timer
Was a little apprehensive due to the location of the course, but pleasantly surprised with the condition of the greens and fairways. Very good value for money, I would imagine it's excellent on a sunny day, I would definitely play there again .
Tight course with interesting features, greens very good, excellent views over Derbyshire countryside
Unusual course, good round
Unusual course, not many trees, quite open, but "linksy" with some great-looking holes. We played in a damp and cold winter's day, so conditions underfoot were a bit boggy - but courses elsewhere where waterlogged, so v pleased with choice. Looking forward to going back when it's a bit drier. Pro very friendly and helpful, good facilities.
great corse
great course for all levels of golfers I am new to the sport but have played there with experienced golfers who enjoyed it just as much. both staff and members are always willing to help out
