Great layout
Loved the layout of the course, especially the views you get around the front 9. Would definitely return.
Golf
Poor welcome, course condition average at best
No pro available, lady in the office treated us like we were an inconvenience.. The course had fairways cut but grass cuttings left lying in 'clumps' by green keeping staff. Could have been better to be honest.
Oh wow
Love this course, always in good nick and varied. I played ok for the first nine which I did in an hour then I caught a simply glacial 4 ball comp. Holler after Hole if 4 backs going at a snail’s pace. Two guys in front of me gave up and eventually so did I. An hour for 9 holes then 45 minutes for the next two so just walked off. Won’t be back in a mooring tee time as it was just so painful.
I had a great day at Buxton GC played well and enjoyed the challenges that I came across during the round. A thoroughly enjoyable day. As it was my first outing I managed to get a little lost finding some of the holes namely 2, 3, & 4. But we managed to find our way.
Met Karl a member and his lovely fiancé Gemma who was enjoying the walk, playing behind us and we finished the last
6 holes playing together. A few drinks and great conversation in the 19th capped off a memorable day for my wife and I. Well done Buxton and High Peak for your warm welcome.
Very enjoyable
Nice course in an elevated location on the outskirts of Buxton in pleasant surroundings with extensive views of the Peak District.
Couse is hilly but easily walkable for the reasonably fit golfer. Interesting holes. Not to challenging for the mid handicapper. When we played the course was still in the process of recovering from the extremely wet winter. It was apparent that a considerable amount of work had been undertaken in order to improve the drainage of the greens. Hollow timing and top dressing had been carried out recently and therefore the greens were not at their best. I am certain that by the end of May the greens will be in very good condition.
Our group of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our round and we would all like to return.
The club house looks a bit run down from outside but the bar was pleasant and staff very friendly and efficient.
Proper golf
Absolutely brilliant course. Even though we had 3 temp greens it wasn't an issue. Had so much fun and remember exactly why I love this game. Can't wait to play in the summer. Definitely worth going
Cracking course
First found this course on Golf Now about 18 months ago and every time I play here I really enjoy it. The course is exciting with many different styles of holes. Whatever the weather you always enjoy this course the course is kept well all year round despite its location. The staff are very friendly and although I’m not a member here I’m really made to feel like I belong. I would totally recommend this course I drive 45 minutes to play here and it’s definitely worth the drive.
Buxton high peak
One of my favourite courses and much underrated I love the old school clubhouse and the staff are always friendly.
Course is a good challenge and is quite similar to a links course. There had been a lot of rain in the area before I played with a number of courses close by shut, but this had taken the rain really well. The one disappointment was the clubhouse being closed after my round.
Excellent all round!
Great day, course played superb even after weeks of rain. Greens were surprisingly great too.
Views amazing.
The staff and members around on the day were super friendly which all together made for an excellent experience.
Thoroughly recommend this little gem!
Great experience
Wet and windy day, course was playable but had experienced lots of recent rain. Some very challenging holes, some memorable experiences keeping out of (or sometimes getting into) trouble with old quarry workings. Greens were in remarkably good condition considering the rain - will definitely play here again in the spring/summer. Wasn't able to sample off-course amenities but staff were very friendly and helpful. Playing on the course was good, being able to see the weather across the Peaks and towards Leek was amazing. Look forward to a full day here sometime next year, and a meal afterwards.
Great challenging course with fantastic views
Considering all the rain recently the course was in pretty good condition; many others in the area are closed or only partially open. Played here many times before and its a good test of golf. Some long par 4s and a few tricky approaches requiring an accurate tee shot. Great views (once the mist lifted!)
Realy attractive layout, great greens
Really enjoyed playing and will definitely return when the weather is better, started in mist and had quite a lot of drizzle. All things considered the course was in great condition, greens were amazing. Really interesting layout, undulations, patches of rough which makes you plot your way around.
Brilliant course
Well after 5 days of non stop rain we turned up on a nice warm morning 3 of us . We was early so was talking to some of the members. What a great bunch of gent had a good talk and a few tips . The pro told us they had 1 temp green because of the weather. The fairways was in very good condition and the rough just long enough to give you a chance of making the greens. The greens was in very good conditions and quite fast . The lay out of the course is good and even though we had a 4 ball in for us the pace of play was good . I would recommend this course to anyone. A really well set out course with some good holes
Great course!
A lovely course, tricky in places, great views, excellent value !
