Rough around the edges

Played Caulderfields many times and this is the worst condition I have seen the tee boxes and greens in, the fairways are in good nick but the course looked and felt like a municipal, very disappointed as the layout is great with some very challenging holes with water placed just before the 8th and 16th being the two stand out holes. Too many golfers not replacing their divots and no one repairing their ball marks on the greens. The whole place seems like it requires some TLC

A testing golf golf course

Having played Calderfield many times the course was in good condition except for poor depth of sand in the bunkers and sand on the various greens hampering consistent pace whilst putting on the greens.

Decent test

Course is tight tree-lined with plenty of water hazards. Played as a pair and neither of us found bunkers but they did look like not much sand in some of them. Greens were quick and level and without too many borrows. Fairways and tee boxes in good condition. It rained throughout our round but still enjoyable. Only criticism is holes were a bit "samey " and flat without much character.

Not worth £22.50

Greens an absolute mess. Bare, uneven and lifting in places. Have played municipals with Better greens. Not a £20.00 course.

Tight course - much overlapping play

This course is quite tight for the first 9 holes and opens up somewhat for the second. There was a lot of waiting on the tees and players backing up which is quite frustrating. It took us over 5 hours to complete 18 holes

Avoid

Took just under 5.5 hours to play a round due to the overcrowding on the course having to wait 10-15 mins to tee off on most holes! Greens are not in the best condition and several bunkers around the green where filled with water. Overall a bad experience and cannot see myself returning due the overcrowding of the course issue!

Give it a miss

I’ve played Calderfields on many occasions and have always found it to be a decent, value-for-money course. Unfortunately, it currently looks a tired venue, with the greens almost unplayable. They were patchy, at best, or bald in many areas. At £23, I think I’ll give it a miss for a while.

Let down by the greens

Nice course , but badly let down by the greens.

Irrigation system has obviously been broke for some time , there was huge cracks and 85% of the green surface was brown and parched.

Before you book phone and make sure the greens are back to standard , then I would recommend it to you

Pleasant course but poor greens

Greens were very poor, some had been re-laid and had grooves, most were brown and uneven not good at all. The rest of the course was green and has lots of trees but it was difficultto find q couple of holes and could have better signingq. Would not play there qgain

Nice course

5mins between tee off made the pace very very slow a few 4 balls and it was the first time I’d seen 3 different groups on a hole and 1 waiting to tee off. Other than that it was a nice course enough obstacles to make it enjoyable and a fair bit or water
