Buffalo Creek Golf Club
About
Highly touted Buffalo Creek has been praised for its layout, condition, and overall attention to detail. No matter who you talk to in the DFW area, they all seem to praise the superb condition of the course from tee to green. Offering a 7,078-yard par 71 Jay Morrish/Tom Weiskopf design, Buffalo Creek offers a good combination of holes: straight holes, dogleggers, uphill and downhill shots, and both long and short holes.
One of the best features is the club’s method of using a pin location sheet to mark exactly where each pin is located on a particular day (up to six locations), which is unbelievably helpful to hacks who’ve never played the course before and have no feel for the look and contour of the greens.
Getting there : Take I-30 east from Dallas and exit Ridge Rd. Turn right and find the course 1.6 miles down on the left.

Going downhill
I have been a fan of this track for years. This is the first time I have played it in a while and I was shocked at the deterioration of this once gem just east of Dallas.
My friend and I played as a two some and were expecting wet conditions as it had rained heavily the day prior. Cart path only, no worries. What did worry us was the overall condition of the entire facility.
The once pro shop is now under some sort of construction and closed from what we can tell.
Range was closed - maybe to be expected - or maybe just lack of resources
Course itself - fairways were good enough. Greens and bunkers where borderline unplayable. Weed infestation on greens. Bunkers UN-kept. Overall pretty bad shape.
Maybe its weather related, maybe its just lack of money being put into the course. But regardless I want everyone to know if you are ok with paying $50 for a course not in very good condition then knock yourself out.
Remodeling
For the most part the greens were in good shape but the traps were horrible. They were very hard and tough to play off. Luckily I only landed in 2 of them. They are remodeling the clubhouse and even though this is temporary it sucks to not have food or beer while playing. I will definitely be back but I’m gonna wait awhile.
Under repair
I know that it is technically still winter and the weather has been up and down here in the Dallas area, but there are course in the same area that are in much better shape. This course almost doesn't seem to care much for maintenance during the winter which is a shame. The layout is fun, the design makes you play golf instead of just bombing it on every hole. However, the ground on the teeboxes is very sporadic, the bunkers are unplayable, and fairways are very thin. Hopefully spring does much for this course because I would like to play it when it is in good shape. They are remodeling the clubhouse/proshop so food/beverage wasn't also very subpar.
Pace of play was horrible
35-40 minutes a hole was not ok. Neither was people hitting 2 plus balls in front of us off the tees. Also we only got through 9 holes at 6 and couldn't get a rain check or a refund for the 4 people with 9 holes left.
Great course. Looking forward to another round.
Course was in great shape. It was somewhat challenging for my handicap (20), but taking smart routes and good course management would have saved a lot of stokes for me personally. Staff was friendly and very helpful. I was a single behind a threesome the whole time but the pass was not at all a bother. I will be visiting this course again in the future.
Poor value
Practice greens we're in poor condition, unable to use to gauge course greens
Sand traps are worst that I have ever seen. They have not been maintained in what appears to be years.
Greens were manageable, just slow.
Tee boxes and fairways were reasonably maintained. Rough was thick and challenging.
I was unable to book my tee time online through your website and the person in the clubhouse checking people in would not honor the online price that you had posted. I had to go to another site to book my tee time.
I will not play this course again until the condition of the course is significantly improved. There is no way that the regular price should be $49 to play golf in this condition. There are so many courses in the DFW area that are in much better condition and cost less.
This course has no cart girls!
Not one time in a 5 hour round did we see a beverage cart! This course could have gotten a lot more money out of our group had there been one!
Buffalo Creek
The course is in great shape with the exception on the bunkers, they had no sand in them.
Getting worse
Course has deteriorated since the last time I was here. Sand traps almost unplayable. Greens were in good shape. Cart staff didn't show up so most golfers were stressing about having a cart in time for tee time. Poor guy behind counter was busting his hump trying to do it all!
Have played this course a couple times always enjoy lay out and seem to play good every time I play greens are in great shape fairway beautiful will be back thx Golf now 7 bucks
Dont waste your money
To start off our first cart windshield was broken, the second cart we got died.
Throughout the entire course, including 5 water coolers were completely empty. Oh it’s also 100 degrees outside.
Course greens and tees boxes were horrible
Course in Poor Condition
I found the course in poor condition. The putting greens were completely grass less. No pitching green for same reason. All the greens had small to large patches of sandy or no sod areas. The sand bunkers were large holes of either grey hard clay or what looked like cement sand gravel. The tee boxes were hard ground. Could not put a tee in it most of the time. Greens were not recovering from aeration that had occurred three weeks ago. Putting a line was a joke.
Great Value
Nice course. Challenging holes. Plan to join as an annual member.
Water Needed
Greens need some work. Water was lacking on the course. Seems like management is waiting for the Lord to provide.
Terrible Conditions
This course layout is great, provides a challenge but is fair if you hit good shots. The course conditions and management are not so good. Starting off, there was no starter at #1 with tee times running behind and leaving a free for all at the first tee. As has been the case for some time the bunkers are hard pan dirt, appear to have not been raked in a year and are in serious disrepair. The newest issue on this visit was the greens, it was like putting on across a pasture... hit it and hope one of the several bumps your ball hit on the way to the hole knocked it online. I saw 2 golf carts having to be towed in after breaking down on the course and the wood on the old clubhouse/snack bar area is rotting and looks awful. Some serious attention needs to be paid to this once great course!
REFUND PLEA$E
Arrived 45miin early for 12:45 tee, no carts available until 10min before tee time, No organization from pro shop to 1st tee... starter was lost, allowing "comped" players to go which made 5 some in front of us, waiting on most holes. Tee boxes not mowed for many days, grass was taller than rough on most tee boxes. Course fee of $25 would have been more appropriate, Golfnow please send me a refund! If you're in DFW area, don't waste your time driving out to this course
Happy St. Patrick's day !!!
This course was a very friendly and well kept up ! Would highly recommend it to people . The easy part of golfing was booking it online !!!
