Buffalo Creek Golf Club
About
Highly touted Buffalo Creek has been praised for its layout, condition, and overall attention to detail. No matter who you talk to in the DFW area, they all seem to praise the superb condition of the course from tee to green. Offering a 7,078-yard par 71 Jay Morrish/Tom Weiskopf design, Buffalo Creek offers a good combination of holes: straight holes, dogleggers, uphill and downhill shots, and both long and short holes.
One of the best features is the club’s method of using a pin location sheet to mark exactly where each pin is located on a particular day (up to six locations), which is unbelievably helpful to hacks who’ve never played the course before and have no feel for the look and contour of the greens.
Getting there : Take I-30 east from Dallas and exit Ridge Rd. Turn right and find the course 1.6 miles down on the left.

Excellent Layout / Horrific Staff
My buddy and I played Buffalo Creek for the first time yesterday. I really liked the course (outside of the bunkers being closer to asphalt than sand), but with a few exceptions the staff left something to be desired.
When we arrived, we were told we would need to wait for a cart. Fifteen minutes before our tee time we were able to get on, that we had to clean out ourselves. The cart died on the way to the first tee. We were able to swap to a different cart and start our round. Through the round, this cart became increasingly slower until we actually had to help push it up hills on the 13th hole. We called the clubhouse and were told that someone would bring us a cart. They never showed. The other people playing with us were kind enough to use their cart to push us anytime we weren't going downhill for the rest of the round.
When we were finally pushed to the clubhouse at the end of the round, the gentleman working didn't seem concerned. He initially offered just me a free weekday round (ignoring my buddy who was also in the cart and was standing right next to me). We live roughly 45 minutes to an hour away, so that wasn't going to happen. He reluctantly wrote on a piece of random paper that we could have a free weekend round.
Outside of a few maintenance issues, I really liked the course itself. That's the unfortunate part as I really don't see myself going back.
Fair, challenging and fun
Staff and layout great. Perfect for both average and above levels of player. Recommend highly. A pleasant surprise!
Not worth the money
Course was ok but expected a lot more for $60 green fee. No GPS units in golf cart, carts are old. We got behind 2 different groups and both were slow. Took 5 1/2 hours to play 18. No course marshalls to help speed people up. Beverage cart saw 1x on a Saturday out of 18 holes.
Nice Track
This course is always in good condition. Greens roll true and the fairways are great. Went on a super windy day and cart path only but allowed me to get 18 in super quick.
I've played this course around 5 times and is always in nice shape. Sure, you pay a bit more than a muni course but the quality justifies the green fee.
American Golf ruins a great course
This was once one of the best courses in the state. Besides the layout, American Golf has let everything else get to a point of an average muni at best. What a shame! Bad tee boxes, bad bunkers, average greens and fairways have made this a below average course.
Bad
Buffalo creek use to be a beautiful course I loved to play but when I played April 9th it was terrible first the price went from 50.00 to 60.00 I don't mind paying for a nice course but as long as the quality is there the fairways were so dry cracks were forming in the ground the greens were worse than ever the bucket were hard as the concreat.I hope the get on top if these issues because I really like playing this course.
Course is in good shape. Pretty good greens. Little disappointed in some of the tee boxes. For such a nice course and good layout, such an easy issue to address. I'd play here again especially for $20. Definitely better than some of the other courses on here that are rated better.
Needs some work
No cart girl, tee boxes were dirt and torn up, weeds all around the tee boxes and slow pace. Could be a great course but no attention to detail.
Poor customer service- tee time rate
The course is in good shape and has a nice layout. We had a 1:56 pm tee time. But due to the slow play of the group in front of us and failure of the clubhouse staff to call groups to the tee box, we did not tee off until around 2:15 pm. We paid $65 for a 1:56 pm tee time. At 2:00 pm the twilight rate kicked in which was $30. It is very poor customer service to book a tee time 4 minutes before the rate is cut in half. Especially since we didn't tee off through no fault of ours until after 2 pm. The chance of playing the course again anytime soon is slim. Very poor tee time scheduling.
Super Greens
good playing for extremely dry conditions and wind
Consistent
Always a pleasure playing this course. Greens were consistent from start to finish.
Q
Treated like a criminal
First back in May we booked a tee time here and an hour before on the day of we got a call saying our tee time was canceled because of a tournament which left us scrambling to find a new place to play last min. They could have called the day before? Or even earlier since they knew they were having a tournament, nope 1 hour before as we were about to walk out the door to go there. manager apologized and said he refunded out money and would give us a free four person round just keep his email.
I was there from out of town on business with two clients and a friend that lives up in the Dallas area. We used the free round and was talking business and cutting up and having a great time. At the turn, my friend who lives there and plays there frequently told us that we get a free hot dog with our round. We went in and the counter girl started giving us our hot dogs when the manager came RUNNING over yelling stop and started asking us for our tickets. We explained how we got the round, etc and didn't know anything about the tickets. I explained to him that 3 of us were from out of town and here on business and have never played here before and our buddy said we got a free hotdog and that we were not trying to steal from them. He told the counter girl to put the dogs back and rolled his eyes at us, acting very annoyed, and walked off as if he didn't even want to hear the truth. I even said I have no problem paying for them and he just continues walking with away with his back to me.
So...I will NOT be bringing clients to play this course again. That was VERY embarrassing and I don't like being treated like a thief over a $4 hotdog.
bad bunkers
Greens were fair , but the bunkers have no sand in them , they are mainly compacted dirt . No chance to get the club under the ball
Dried up course
Had trouble getting the first tee in the ground it was so dry! The course looks to have gotten way too much play with way too little care for the t boxes. The sand was perfectly manicured the t boxes not so much. We aborted our round at the turn due to a total log jam. Hackers had taken over the course. Not sure how to better manage that but they need to figure it out. They have a nice layout in a pretty nice setting but there is nothing special about this course. Don't pay over $20 to play it!

Well at least you were able to play, I called last summer, booked a tee time for 4 of us, thought I was set until my party showed up and were told we didnt have a tee time. We all 4 drove from different locations, Dallas, Rowlett, Wylie. They didnt even try to accommodate us at all, just said sorry we are booked. They said we didnt have a tee time. I play golf and know how the courses get booked, now why would I just show up without a tee time on a Saturday? Poor customer service and management, I also vowed never to go their again.
