Buffalo Creek Golf Club
About
Highly touted Buffalo Creek has been praised for its layout, condition, and overall attention to detail. No matter who you talk to in the DFW area, they all seem to praise the superb condition of the course from tee to green. Offering a 7,078-yard par 71 Jay Morrish/Tom Weiskopf design, Buffalo Creek offers a good combination of holes: straight holes, dogleggers, uphill and downhill shots, and both long and short holes.
One of the best features is the club’s method of using a pin location sheet to mark exactly where each pin is located on a particular day (up to six locations), which is unbelievably helpful to hacks who’ve never played the course before and have no feel for the look and contour of the greens.
Getting there : Take I-30 east from Dallas and exit Ridge Rd. Turn right and find the course 1.6 miles down on the left.

Bunkers need help
This course has great potential in its layout and you can use most clubs in your bag, however the bunkers are never manicured. Also, there has been a problem with the carts as our cart ran out of juice as did many others. The one I was able to substitute for after getting pushed by another cart for the front 9 had an extremely annoying squeal.
Fun Course, Ends there.
Played the Friday after Thanksgiving, when a lot of people have the day off. The pro shop had one guy workiing in it, both checking people in and answering the phone to take reservations. Needless to say, the check-in process took 15+ minutes. No beverage cart, on a Friday after a holiday. Bunkers were a thin layer of top soil. Our golf cart's battery started running out on hole 16 and we eventually had the other twosome push us to the club house. Once there, several people asked for our working cart because the course had run out of them. I also noticed at least two other carts being towed in because they died. The club house can't make a burger or fries, nothing more than cold sandwiches. The urinal in the men's room was broken. The pace of play was 4.5+ hours.
It's a shame because I enjoy the course layout.
Rockwall
Great course and great people along the way but you’re having a lot of issues with the golf carts dying all the time , thank you
Average Course
Haven't played here in almost 20 years. Purchased "Hot Deal" for $36. I would not pay a penny more to play golf here. The pace of play was terribly slow. No Marshall's monitoring pace of play and no beverage cart on the course the day we played.
Course management issues always
Well it’s time to speak up after consistency in poor experience at this course. They throw people off on both the front and the back with no consideration to the scheduled t time or number of people on the course. They allow the pace of play to deteriorate to an unbearable level. We left after we saw the course ambassador hawking golf balls in the woods while 3 groups were inline on one T Box. What made it so awful was this followed a slow play, to only make the turn and see a group that just arrived T’ing up on the to box behind the group we had been following all day. I don’t understand this level of disrespect from course staff to the payers that are IN PLAY. I play frequently and will welcome the opportunity to share my experience with anyone I can. Something needs to change with how golf courses are managed to bring back at least a minimum amount of Etiquette and respect to the people and the game.
Very nice course
Nice layout. Greens are in very good shape. A challenging course. I recommend it. Fees sometimes too high.
Buffalo Creek
Played this weekend with 2 out of town friends. Friendly staff, got a cheap rate. Course was in decent condition. Back 9 much better than front. Fairways mowed down with tight lies, but with solid turf. Greens on front nine were slow, bumpy bermuda and were marginal. Back 9 they were rolled and much better.
Trying to find a great golf course
The photo does not represent the course. The course was not in good condition. The course is only worth $20 to play .
Nice layout, not maintained well
Excellent layout but the greens are a bit rough and the bunkers look like parched desert mud.
Buffalo Creek Golf Club
Buffalo Creek is very nice and very aesthetic. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Course conditions were typical. Fairways and greens were in great shape, especially considering the amount of recent rain. The bunkers on the other hand were not so good and not just because of the rain. They haven't drained well in years and need new sand. If you can stay out of them you'll love Buffalo Creek!
Buff C
I par'd the first two holes and everything went to poo from there. I blame the course for my awful performance...
Not crowded for a reason
+++ Free unlimited range balls.
+++ Check in was great.
+++ Course layout has many good holes
++ Serviced at turn was great.
+ We saw only one other golfer from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
- - - Sand traps were unplayable. Shallow sand. Not maintained. Unraked. Not just one every now and then, but all we observed on the course.
- - Greens were bumpy and slow. Had been recently sanded.
This course is poorly managed
I've played this course for years, had stopped because of overbooking tee times. The club house was a mess, not properly trained personnel, horribly understaffed. The concession stand closed early with golfers still on the course, not a cart person in sight.
Excellent Layout / Horrific Staff
My buddy and I played Buffalo Creek for the first time yesterday. I really liked the course (outside of the bunkers being closer to asphalt than sand), but with a few exceptions the staff left something to be desired.
When we arrived, we were told we would need to wait for a cart. Fifteen minutes before our tee time we were able to get on, that we had to clean out ourselves. The cart died on the way to the first tee. We were able to swap to a different cart and start our round. Through the round, this cart became increasingly slower until we actually had to help push it up hills on the 13th hole. We called the clubhouse and were told that someone would bring us a cart. They never showed. The other people playing with us were kind enough to use their cart to push us anytime we weren't going downhill for the rest of the round.
When we were finally pushed to the clubhouse at the end of the round, the gentleman working didn't seem concerned. He initially offered just me a free weekday round (ignoring my buddy who was also in the cart and was standing right next to me). We live roughly 45 minutes to an hour away, so that wasn't going to happen. He reluctantly wrote on a piece of random paper that we could have a free weekend round.
Outside of a few maintenance issues, I really liked the course itself. That's the unfortunate part as I really don't see myself going back.
Fair, challenging and fun
Staff and layout great. Perfect for both average and above levels of player. Recommend highly. A pleasant surprise!
Not worth the money
Course was ok but expected a lot more for $60 green fee. No GPS units in golf cart, carts are old. We got behind 2 different groups and both were slow. Took 5 1/2 hours to play 18. No course marshalls to help speed people up. Beverage cart saw 1x on a Saturday out of 18 holes.
Nice Track
This course is always in good condition. Greens roll true and the fairways are great. Went on a super windy day and cart path only but allowed me to get 18 in super quick.
I've played this course around 5 times and is always in nice shape. Sure, you pay a bit more than a muni course but the quality justifies the green fee.
