Handles water well.
Considering the amount of rain in the preceding days the course was in great condition. Very good catering.
No space between t times
Played here the other day, 5 minute intervals between T times meant waiting on every shot and people waiting everywhere you looked.
No combining of single players meant 4 singles all taking up a 4 ball slot stuck behind groups of 4.
Course in excellent condition, as always
Colmworth golf course is always in great condition, regardless of the time of year. And always provides a great challenge
Keep Coming Back!
My usual Wednesday round (elsewhere) was cancelled as my playing partner couldn't make it.
A quick jump onto the app showed I could get on here for the first ee slot of the day - 06:50. Perfect!
Unsurprisingly I was the only car in the car park.
The first couple of holes weren't full daylight, which only adds to the fun - where exactly did the ball go...
If you get the opportunity, I recommend trying this course out.
Great Value, Really welcoming club house
Tale of 2 Nines....
Front nine is a bit scrappy, Green conditions not great and no real memorable holes. This was not helped being stuck behind a 4 ball of hackers that were sharing clubs. Luckily, they only played nine holes.
Back 9 really improves not only the layout but the condition of the course especially the greens. There are 3 great par 3s that are a real test, 3 really elevated tees on par 4s that provide a great test.
Really like the club house set up... Nice selection of food and drinks and the staff really welcoming. The outside patio is really nice with cover and heaters.
For the £15 we paid this was a steal
Very good
a great course, tricky in places, very good condition,
Great value
A great test of golf and very good value for money. Played a lot longer than the yardage.
Breezy day in Bedfordshire
Booked Colmworth an hour before we played, all a bit last minute,, what a pleasant surprise for £20 you couldn’t ask for more, fairways well grassed and cut, fringes and greens in good nick, just the teeing areas a bit weak, bunkers were having some fresh sand in and a few were GUR. Some fairways were a bit up and down but all fairways separated by trees, it is just a nice course,
shame it's scruffy now
Always a warm and friendly welcome at Colmworth. We hadn't played the course for a few months, so we were surprised to see it looking scruffy this time. It is usually a fun test of golf in good condition. In particular; the tee areas were awful.
We still enjoyed our round, despite the very slow pace of play from the 4 balls in front.
Will not rush back..
Poor signage between holes. No real hole layout signs. Some bunkers stoney and grass growing inside. Tee boxes were horrible. Course needs some TLC but not bad for the price
Early start to the day
I booked on Tuesday night for the first available tee slot - 5.30 am on Wednesday morning.
Saw nobody until the grounds staff started work at just past 7 am.
Nobody in front obviously, never saw another person.
2h 47 minutes and two pars on the par 5's, I'm back in the car on the way home, the clubhouse was not even open yet.
If you can do an early start it's a great way to begin the day.
Nice course.
Dry summer has dried everything out and has spoilt a lot of courses. We enjoyed this course and I'm sure it would be even better once the grass has grown back. I would recommend this course. Had a breakfast before we played which was lovely. The staff were very good too.!
Has a bit of everything
Good day out. Good breakfast. Improving the sand in some of the Bunkers now.
The Perfect Golfing Destination
Colmworth is one of my local courses, but has quickly become my favourite.
I've played them all local to Bedfordshire, but Colmworth is something of a hidden gem that offers a well maintained challenging golf course.
The staff here are super friendly, there's plenty of car parking and the putting green is lovely. You'll enjoy the walk around the lake and admire the wildlife.
It's certainly a course I recommend to all.
Tuesday Mystery Tour
We were greeted by friendly staff both before and after golf. Greens were good to putt on and I enjoyed the layout of many of the holes. Only a very small criticism was fairways and greens were very firm and so almost impossible to stop a ball on the green even with lob wedge. Overall great value and I will definitely return.
Shocking Etiquette
It is a constant surprise at just how other golfers, basically, just don't give a toss about other players.
The player in front of me walked off after 5 holes, I walked off after 6, and so did the player behind me.
Why?
there was a two-ball, a three-ball and a totally ignorant 4-ball ahead.
The 4-ball didn't even seem to realise they were causing a queue, let alone wave others through.
I can play 18 in less than 3 hours, those morons at the front were on schedule for a 6 hour round.
Son-in-law loved it
I had previously played 9 holes here a few weeks ago and decided to take my son-in-law for only his 2nd full 18 (we normally play our local 9 hole academy course).
We had an early tee-off of 7.30 on a Sunday morning.
Nobody in front of us, nobody directly behind us, after 7 holes we were caught up, waved them through and saw nobody again.
Some challenging holes where accuracy off the tee is more important than distance!
It was a lovely sunny, warm morning, after we finished we sat outside with a cold drink and played the "if only that shot had..." You know how it goes....
When situations like this occur, why wouldn't you call the clubhouse so they can send a member of staff out to speak with them?
I've done this before and it's worked a treat, but often I've found this to be a problem no matter where you play, especially worse on weekends.
