Crane Valley Golf Club - Valley Course

It was my birthday and what a way to celebrate! This lovely course contoured around a river presented lots of challenges and the greens were faultless.

I appreciate that every golf course has to have essential maintenance, and hollow tining the greens is part of that, but how about warning visitors before they pay good money to come and play your course! Not at any point from making the booking online, calling the pro shop to add an extra player, or when we went in to the pro shop on the day, was there any mention that the course was undergoing maintenance. It ruined the round for me and the rest of the group - I would never normally leave negative feedback, but we'd played Moors Valley the week before for half the price and it was in excellent condition. Crane on the other hand was in very poor shape! I normally love playing this course, but I won't be back for a while. I've played on hollow tined greens many times in the past, but these were by far the worst I've played on. Far too much sand had been used, and the roll (bobble) on the putts was laughable at times.

Hopefully the issues are addressed soon for the sake of any other visitors playing Crane in the near future. I would recommend this course to a friend, but not in it's current state.

Have played here 3 times now and all visits were over the winter months. The course is easy in places but challenging in others so will cater to all levels of player (might be a bit too easy for very low handicappers). The course can be a little boggy in places but VERY minor and it is the middle of winter after all - also, the work that is going into drainage on the course is evident and looks like it is paying dividends. The green keepers should also be congratulated as there were no temporary greens and all greens were FABULOUS for the middle of winter (best I have played on over the wetter and windy months). Highly recommended.

Played here for the 3rd time. Fairways are in excellent condition and the greens are now running fast. Live the layout of the course with some challenging holes and some easier ones!
