The Quarry Golf Course
About
The land that now provides a home to Quarry Golf Course was formerly the abandoned Alamo Cement plant. Keith Foster converted this unique location into a challenging layout with a links-style front nine and a back nine that plays entirely through an abandoned rock quarry with walls over a 100 feet tall on three sides. The first half of the golf course features plays through open fields of rolling hills with native grasses and a near absence of trees. Creeks and streams come into play on six holes of the front nine. The quarry pit on the back nine is truly the most unique feature on the golf course. Quarry Golf Course's most dramatic hole is the 17th, which requires a tee shot over a deep ravine that is framed by a 40-foot waterfall.

Unique
Front 9 was pretty cool, but the back 9 will have me wanting to come back if I travel to San Antonio again. Back 9 was beautiful.
Would love to play again
The front 9 had some tricky tee shots that I think playing it again would allow for more strategy off the tee box. The layout was beautiful and the back 9 was one of the most unique 9’s I have ever played. I would strongly recommend this course.
Quarry Sept golf
Very hot if there is little wind. Course in good shape but greens were fairly slow.
Beautiful course
The back 9 is in the former quarry and it is very unique. We really enjoyed the course.
Very Cool Course
Was in San Antonio for work and had time to play the course. What a great experience, love the back nine that is set in an old cement quarry, beautiful views and very unique layout. The other nine is also nice, typical links style. Consider there has not been much rain in a while, course in good shape. Staff is very friendly. I highly recommend playing the course and if I ever get a chance to come back to San Antonio will definitely play again. Thank you for the hospitality
Good time, slow pace
The course is great but they do need a marshal to disallow 5 person groups, keep pace moving, and cart girls should stop on tee box or green. Too many times we were held up due to groups making purchases mid hole.
Get the Omelette
Great course! Amazing chef! Best omelette I’ve ever had. One of the better full amenities courses I’ve played. Highly recommend!
Great Course
Great golf course. Great staff. A must if you visit San Antonio.
The Marshall was the man.
The Marshall knew the tee times like the back of his hand so he sent us out early on the front. Knowing how hot the front nine can be, he said we could get done in an hour and a half and not sit out there and get deep fried. Thank you to the Marshall for us not getting third degree burns..
The Quarry Golf Course
Great links style course with both scenic and challenging holes. 10 minutes from downtown San Antonio and about the same from airport. In summer, front 9 holes hot. More breezes and cooler on back nine. Plan your round if temps are of concern. Love this course. Extremely well maintained.
The Quarry San Antonio
The course was in great condition, staff was great. It was over 100 when we started, but the course was green and lush! Great time!
Hot and Bumpy
The Wx was a hot and humid day in San Antonio, aka normal. There was a little wind, but nothing to cause concerns.
Practice area is very nice, but you have to hit off the mats and were restricted to irons only. Coming in from out of town, this would have been nice to know prior to getting range balls. There bunker complex to practice was awesome too.
Going off on the back nine, the starter was mid-way down the fairway vs. starting from the tee box. I found that to be a bit odd. But I was off and running with no issues... until I came to the greens. They looked fast, but played very very very slow. They were very bumpy too. It looked the they punched the greens a while ago and they were starting to come back. They needed to be cutt and rolled, and that might also be the greens staff defense to the hot and humid weather, I don't know.
Pace of play was awesome until I got stuck behind 2 foursomes that looked to be on a buddy trip. I get it no worries, just would have been nice to be allowed to play through.
Course marshall was nice and had them stop at the turn, so we could play through. The only other comment I would make is that there were a large number of non-par 3 holes that were cart path only, but didn't appear to be based on course or weather conditions. This is a hilly course, so plan to do some walking even if you have a cart.
This is and remains one of my favorite courses in the San Antonio area.
