The Quarry Golf Course
About
The land that now provides a home to Quarry Golf Course was formerly the abandoned Alamo Cement plant. Keith Foster converted this unique location into a challenging layout with a links-style front nine and a back nine that plays entirely through an abandoned rock quarry with walls over a 100 feet tall on three sides. The first half of the golf course features plays through open fields of rolling hills with native grasses and a near absence of trees. Creeks and streams come into play on six holes of the front nine. The quarry pit on the back nine is truly the most unique feature on the golf course. Quarry Golf Course's most dramatic hole is the 17th, which requires a tee shot over a deep ravine that is framed by a 40-foot waterfall.

Good Course, Priced Right
First time playing the course as I was visiting SATX from Edmonton, Alberta for work. Booked my round on Golf Now for $75 earlier that week.
Played Friday morning at 8am by myself (I enjoy playing alone too). Excellent pace...finished the round in just under 3 hrs.
The course is fairly open with not too many hazards. The greens were in ok shape, which must be due to the time of year, I'm assuming.
I wouldn't say this is the most challenging course I've played. I would go and play again, however would not pay over $75 for the round. Do yourselves a favour and look online for the best rates.
Tornado golf
We were visiting from NY and booked this round on line before we came. The night before our tee time there was a very unusual and unexpected tornado which damaged the front 9 of the course. The course had no electricity but bent over backwards to make sure we enjoyed our round. We played the back 9 around the quarry. Very cool, scenic golf that you won't get anywhere else. Staff was amazing and the day was great. We will go back sometime and play the front 9. Golf Now gets an A+ because they didn't charge us due to the storm. We paid at the course since they had no electronics to see our reservations. Great time considering tricky circumstances!!
Amazing time
I had heard great things about the course and new I'd need to try and get a round in when visiting San Antonio. Was able to come across a Hot Deals time and it was well worth it. Smallish (irons only) driving range, good sized putting green. The front 9 is a decent layout, a standardish linksy style, but very enjoyable. The back 9 is where it gets interesting as you move down into the old quarry. Beautiful rocky landscape - the photos don't do it justice! Overall great condition. Would definitely play again. On a Friday morning, was able to finish in under 4 hours.
Gorgeous
I'm a muni course player. Very enjoyable. I'm almost 72 much arthritis, and played the up tees, would have liked to played from whites.
Entitled Members
The Quarry is a great course that will test all aspects of your game, especially your putting. I had a great time playing. I would love to play it again.
I have to say that the foursome that would not let myself and my playing partner play through were quite rude. Upon discussing the issue with the manager he explained that the members would be notified of proper etiquette through an email. I hope this reminds them that they can not slow down the pace of play of others because it is "their" course.
Great day
Last minute decision since the weather was so nice and was EXTREMELY glad I did it. The course, staff and day was great. Couldn't have been much better at all. I highly recommend he course. Very challenging with great scenery.
Great Layout!
Played at 8:30 and finished in less than 4 hours. Great layout with two very different nines.
Course was in good shape for this time of year.
Definetly will play again.
A fun course to play
My first visit to this course in San Antonio. Location of the course is very convenient. Course if very well taken care of. Course is wide open, but don't let that fool you. Balls hit in the tall natural grass can be difficult to find. Time of play was fine. Amazing utilization of quarry. Definitely would play again.
Amazing - worth the drive from DALLAS!!!
Wow....I mean what else would your first though be seeing this course built into a rock quarry!? You know the big whole you see at quarries? Yeah that's where the back 9 is built and it's freaking awesome. Course layout is great, greens have some character, but once you enter that pit it's pretty spectacular. I drive from Dallas to play here, and wouldn't hesitate to do it again - and I will soon!
Staff is so friendly and I was lucky enough to get paired with some members that were a lot of fun to play with.
Nice golf course
My wife and I played this course two years ago when we were in San Antonio. This year we found ourselves back again and remembered this course. This is a really nice golf course and I would recommend it to anyone. For playing in January I thought the course was in pretty good condition.
Tale of two nines
The two nines here are very different. But both nice.
The front nine is defined by planes approaching SAT and HWY-281. Its pretty straight-forward and compared to the back nine, mundane. The two par threes are short, yet fun with water in play.
The back nine is in the Quarry. Its a very unique collection of holes in this almost stadium/coliseum type setting. It looks like you can have a night-time nine hole golf event with a few portable stadium light trucks.
Greens were in amazing shape for the winter, and the course is fair. I think 17 is a bit silly, hard to figure out where to drive it. 18 wasn't its best hole either IMO.
But a fun course in a fun area of San Antonio.
The Quarry
The Quarry is a beautiful course. We truly enjoyed our day. We recommend it.
Always in good condition
Had a great time at the Quarry. The course was in good shape and the greens were very good as well. Strongly recommend!
Enjoyable afternoon
Has to be the best staff outside a private club. Courteous, attentive and they take pride in providing this service. Clubhouse is well stocked. The range is fantastic.
The course is in winter condition but well maintained. Great links style layout and plays well for all skill levels. This club is located in just about the most convenient location. Ideal. If you're looking for an enjoyable golf outing, this is your place.
