SilverHorn Golf Club of Texas
About
Silverhorn Golf Club of Texas, located only 15 minutes from San Antonio's Riverwalk, has quickly gained a reputation as being some of the best golf in Texas. The layout covers 262 scenic acres of rolling hills covered in mature oaks and cedar trees. The challenging golf course features tree-lined fairways and carefully contoured greens. There are also lakes and creeks, both dry and wet, coming into play throughout the golf course. The front nine's signature hole is the par-5 sixth, which has 20 acres of water bordering the entire left side, while the back nine's signature is the par-4 15th, which is considered the toughest hole on the golf course. This 446-yard hole features an elevated green that is guarded by a large bunker on the left and two creeks crossing the fairway.

Greens not in great shape
Tee boxes and fairways were alright but the greens were terrible. It was like playing plinko on sand. I have played Silverhorn before but it may be awhile before I play it again. Definitely not worth the price with those conditions.
Greens Horrible
The greens are in horrible shape. I don’t know what happened here but this used to be one of the best courses in San Antonio. No longer, Sad.
Sad Course Conditions
I am a long time resident of San Antonio and play all courses in a 60 mile radius.
I have not golfed Silverhorn in 1-1/2 years but booked a round this past weekend with my wife.
We can Honestly say that Silverhorn is in terrible condition and in our opinion the Worst in the SA Tex area. Compared to all city courses it is Horrible by far. Greens are all terrible with no grass and the fairways are not much better.
We pain $125 pp and can truly say We Will Never Go Back.
I guess the new owners are sucking all the money out and letting the place die. Sad.
Sick potential. God awful greens
Layout is dope. Gotta to be able to shot shape off the tee, and know where to hit the ball. Fairways were decent, a lot of dead spots though. Greens were god awful. Fun course with a ton of potential but wouldn’t come back cuz of the greens.
Don’t waste your time or money
They’ve lost the greens on most holes. I only play here when there are no tee times available at my club and I regret it every time. On a positive note the company was good and the weather was great.
Greens and tee boxes in bad shape
Challenging layout of a course that desperately needs some TLC. Greens were in bad shape with lots of sand and still uneven. Tee boxes are so dry and hard you need a hammer to put in your tee.
All could be forgiven if the green fees were commensurate with the condition of the course/greens. I had booked 2 tee times for a corporate outing and was pretty embarrassed with the conditions. I may come back on my own at some point but I will verify before booking what condition the course is in.
Pace of play
We were a twosome playing behind a fivesome. The group ahead had no concept of golf ettiquite! All five were very high handicap players and did not understand the “ playing through” rules. I called the pro shop as the fivesome was teeing off and was told they fivesome are allowed during the week……very bad idea!
Course could be great
I was disappointed in quality of the greens. I understand that we are coming out of winter, but for the price they should be better. Only 2 greens were up to standard for a course of the cost.
Too expensive for course conditions
Way too much money to play a course in this condition. Fairways were average, but the greens were awful (unless you like to putt on dirt patches galore). Too many better deals in San Antonio to pay this much for this track. My advice? Go somewhere else.
Greens are struggling!!!
Everything except the greens are in good shape! They need some serious help!!!
Love this course and play here often.
The course is in terrible condition
Greens in particular, awful. Charging full price is a crime!
Horrible conditions, full price!
The golf course was in terrible condition. The greens in particular were awful. There were work crews all over the golf course running tractors in wood chippers while you were playing, they did not stop when you were hitting a shot or putting.
You should warn the people making reservations and you should most definitely not be charging full fair for a golf course in this condition.
Not my first time
It was not my first time at this course but it was my son in laws. He’s only played a few courses in San Antonio but he said this one is his favorite so far. We had an excellent time bonding over the round. We really look forward to coming back and enjoying another round at Silverhorn.
Update on Silverhorn
There is still no drinking water on the course. We saw the beverage cart once on the front . 9 and that was it.
Green on the back nine are in rough shape.
The course has a lot of wear and tear on it. 4 tee shots on the back rolled into dirt and stones.
Great foursome
I booked the 12:50 tee time.
The staff was pleasant. I got a bucket before we teed off and loosened up. Got to the tee and met the rest of the golfers. We had a great time. Although we did hit balls off the fairway we were conscious of the pace and the group behind us. There was a cart girl stationed on the course which is fine but the day was hot and this course has never put out igloos with water for the players. It would make a good round a little better.
