'Links' gem on the Fylde Coast
The course is a good test of golf and was in excellent condition. Inland links style, heavily bunkered with fantastic greens at the time of playing. Wonderful, recently renovated clubhouse with spikes bar and patio overlooking the course for a beer and bite to eat after the round.
Less linksy test
Maybe it was because it had rained a bit over night, but Fairhaven GC didn't play as linksy as many of the other courses in the area. It looked like a course that belonged in, say, Iowa. That said, it was a breezy track that was easy to walk and, sometimes more importantly, easy to find your ball. It was the first stop on a 36-hole doubleheader, and I'd recommend a similar course of action for other dimpleheads.
Beautiful little track that deserves more love
I'll be honest, this was the morning round of a 36-hole day that had nearby Royal Lytham & St. Annes as the afternoon round. So, I don't want to say I was overlooking the round, but I was overlooking the round. That was a mistake.
It was clear from the first hole, that this place is good. It has good variety, makes you think and presents plenty of a challenge.
It's also pretty and picturesque. On this day, the skies were fairly gray, so the browns, golds and greens of the course provided a nice contrast with the skies and gave us plenty of photo opportunities.
I'd play it again in a second.
