Playing very nicely
The recent rain has done wonders for this course since my last visit. Its not playing very nicely tee to green inclusive.
The one downside was the 4 old boys that appeared on the 10th from nowhere, decent golfers but very slow and weren't offering anyone through.
Caused a bit of a queue
A hidden gem
Have never gotten around to playing this course and I wish I had sooner. I normally take the old fella to Garstang for a Sunday afternoon round but I'll be taking him here from now on. Lovely greens, wide forgiving fairways, bunkers with actual real fluffy sand instead of that wet rock-hard stuff we normally get, just thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.
Forgiving
The course is very forgiving. The only this which is not is the positioning of the pins on some greens.coudse is well manicured and rough cut down. I'll be back
Excellent value
This is probably 1 of the most underrated course's I've played, me and my friends have played here on numerous occasions. And the greens, club house and course are in brilliant condition..check it out for yourselves...well worth a visit.
Lovely course
Played here a number of times now, always kept well and the greens in good order!
Shot my best round ever yesterday so I’m chuffed.
Needs to mature and requires more hazards
The Pro and staff were all really friendly and efficient. The clubhouse was really modern, clean and had good facilities, due partly to it's use for functions as well as golf. There were breakfast buns and Coffee/Tea available moderately priced and decent quality. The Driving Range although not covered gave plenty of opportunity to warm up, the ball dispenser took contactless cards at a reasonable price, and there was a small chipping/putting practice area.
The course itself for me lacked maturity, particularly the back 9 (which I understand was added later than the front 9). Most fairways were wide and forgiving and there was a lack of hazards such as lateral ditches and (4) greens with no bunkers. Hole lengths were reasonably challenging, but a lot were very similar in design. Some tees were a little scruffy, as were some bunkers but greens were in decent condition considering early season drought.
Lovely course and good facilities
I’ve played this course more than any other and always enjoy it. The course is in excellent condition now, although in winter it can be quite wet in places. Nothing to fault for the price.
Very good course
We had a lovely Cumberland Sauage butty before hand which was lovely and the member of staff in the club house was extremely helpful knowing we hadn't been before. We really liked the course from the tee boxes to the fairways and the greens. Good variety of the holes and fairways were wide which is good as we are all quite high handicappers.
We will defo be back.
Many thanks
Well maintained
A very nice looking course.
Pretty difficult on a very windy day.
Greens are in very good condition.
Hidden Gem
I played this course having read mixed reviews.
In my experience the course was a pleasure to play.
Well designed taking advantage of the land available.
There are different challenges throughout and in breezy conditions its a tough test.
I found the greens in great condition. It wasn't easy to get the pace right but that's part of the challenge.
The only downside is the yellow tees are in poor condition especially on the front 9 but I am sure that can be rectified and didn't stop the enjoyment.
Well worth a visit
Early morning bird
I played early morning tee the weather was cloudy but no wind, beautiful course, great grass course and greens well maintained, definitely would recommend to give a shot 👍👍🙏
Great course
Arrived quite early, very friendly man in the pro shop (was told after he was the owner) said we could go out earlier if any gaps, went for a coffee in a very nice cafe like clubhouse.
Course was fantastic, greens were great, very open course where you can have a lash with driver most holes.
Slow 3 ball holding up the course unfortunately.
This was my second visit, went in November in a very wet period and course was remarkabley playable despite that.
This time weather was great the course was great so the 3 muskateers didn't annoy as much as if the weather was poor.
Would definately go again and recommend.
Good course so far
Very good course , good pace and well maintained course
Great course
Great course. Played on a really sunny and still day and when they conditions are like that, Staining Lodge is perfect.
Great pro shop, lovely range, drink afterwards and overall a challenging, open, fun course for everyone. Testing but playable.
