Farthingstone Hotel & Golf

On arrival I entered the pro shop to confirm tee time and grab a scorecard. The elderly man in the pro shop informed me that he had double booked and apparently had to join someone we didn't know for the round. We were in a 2 ball. We refused as we had never played the course before and were not overly keen on joining a stranger round the course. I asked the man if we could tee off after he was very rude back to me implying it was my fault that he had double booked the tee time. I said not to worry give us our money back and we will go. He refused said we must speak to golf now. Then I asked again if there was another tee time and he initially said I would not have thought so we are really busy. 5 minutes later, surprisingly the tee time after was free so we decided to play the course any way. The tee boxes needed a cut, it was like teeing off in the first cut of rough. The greens were extremely slow. Pace of play was really slow, behind a 4 ball who refused to let us through until the 10th. The par 3s were quite quirky nicely laid out. A few good holes but overall poor service, poor greens, poor tee boxes and slow pace. We will not be going back.

Great layout, very good condition of course, greens a little worn but run smoothly. Definitely recommend a round there.

This course is always worth playing, it has some very interesting and challenging golf holes.

Located deep in the Northamptonshire countryside, it certainly gets you away from it all.

Bare in mind we played in the middle of the Corvid-19 pandemic. The fairways were excellent the greens and bunkers mostly ok, it was a very hot and dry time of the year.

Great for a casual knock about in beautiful countryside all facilities and course presentaion are very average but GBP 20 a round, well worth a visit.

Another great day on this lovely course. My only criticism is the condition/pace of the greens - they are the slowest by some distance and will damage your scoring. Everything else though was first class and I will play there again.

Very nice course with a variety of hole difficulties. Only thing is that the fairways are very dry, and this is also the case on some of the greens

Great course with some challenging holes. I am a high handicapper and so some the rolling slopes gave me plenty to think about. The greens are a little worn but don’t let that stop you playing this great course

Course has potential to be nice but greens and course need to be looked after better Compared with others have played. Staff quite friendly and helpful and has a nice bar for after.

I have played here a few times and while it’s never been my favourite cause it’s normally value for money as it used to be cheap.

However the price has gone up and the greens were extremely poor uneven bouncy and the pace varied so much. The fairways had been cut but grass had been left which is shocking. I will not return again.

This course was very good value for money, the fairways were in pretty good shape, just the odd let down with grass clippings still left on the fairways.

The pace of play was very good, we feed off amongst a large group of tee offs but everyone kept a good pace.

Greens were average, some need extra care attention but overall most were in a good condition.

The course had a really good layout, with some very interesting holes.

Great value for money overall and very happy to come back and play.

Farthingstone remains a very interesting course.

Challenging, well thought out holes, beautiful surroundings and a friendly atmosphere.

Its always a good value round but you have to accept the greens are poor with varying speeds and conditions.

More live on that area and it could move from average to very good

Decent course, quite picturesque and not too difficult for my ability. Fairways were generally open and rough was not ridiculous. There were some very nice holes in terms of tee and approach shots. Greens were generally well paced and mostly in good condition. The condition of some of the tees was a bit lumpy in parts but that would be my only slight negative comment. Overall great value.

The course is clearly being looked after as ever and played well. There is a nice range of different challenges with some water hazards often hidden that you need to be aware of.
