Great features
Very good course and eye catching scenery the only issue I have and it’s not with farthingstone it’s with the GN APP and that is that when we booked we had to group up into a 4 ball when we had booked just a 2 ball so it ruined the day a bit playing with people who we didn’t know and held us up
Day out
Lovely welcome to the facility. Course was in good condition just let down a little by the greens but we were told about these in the pro shop. Nice course and challenging in places and a bit tight at times so accuracy can be important. Setting is nice although you could easily miss the entrance road. Didn’t play well but only myself to blame as the weather was great.
Beautiful settings
Great course layout set in beautiful countryside with rolling hills and changes in camber to test you, very accommodating staff and nice little pro shop and bar area the only let down is the greens probably the worst I have played on covered in moss no greens ran the same and bobbly
Lovely setting
Course just reopened after Covid 19 it’s a amazing test of golf not easy but great fun greens a little slow but the experience of playing a great course left us wanting to return soon
Don’t bother
Course is bad condition , play was very very slow , greens were terrible and diseased all other with lots of moss etc! Don’t bother
Good Challenging 18 Holes
Well worth a knock.
The course is secluded in the countryside free from traffic noise.
A challenging and undulating 18 holes that will test your handicap throughout. Some fantastic holes that will keep you thinking. Great value for money with rooms available for those wishing to stay over.
Tidy and inexpensive
For the price you pay it’s a great hilly and challenging course. Greens do need a bit of work but sure that will happen now lockdown is over. Friendly atmosphere on course not feeling rushed to play or anything despite being busier. Staff have always been friendly and helpful when I’ve played
Really Beautiful Course
This is a lovely little course right out in the sticks, feels a bit like going back on time when playing there. Very friendly staff and people in general. The only issue is the greens which could do with some work.
Little Gem
Friendly welcome and then a lovely challenging course in very good condition and surprisingly not too busy.
Just an enjoyable and relaxing experience
Well worth a visit
Some great holes and views. Quite tiring.
Fairways lacked definition and tee boxes not cut .
Greens seemed to have a disease but putted well.
Tight faurways
The course was in good condition after all the rain we’ve had always a challenge playing here right faurways but recommend to play here will definitely keep coming to play here
Good Challenge, poor ettiquette
Golf course a good challenge and nice layout, pace of play was good for front 9, whilst on 9th green a buggy from the 1st tee tried to push in front of us, luckily we saw and got on the 10th tee before them. We were following a 2 ball, who were following a big society so there was literally nowhere to go. They were very pushy and we were determined they would not play through, annoying to have them driving up on every shot and even playing once before I left the green - poor form!
Revisit after 3 years
My second time playing this course and enjoyed it, a mature course with character. Playing on a Monday the course was quiet, weather conditions cool but hazy sunshine and no wind. With winter conditions the Tee boxes and greens were in only fair condition. All holes had water in them. Many signposts to next hole had been blown down and need reinstating. However the fairways were sound. Afterwards the food and drink good. All staff from the Golf Pro to bar were very welcoming and friendly. Its a good value for money course if playing to a budget. I look forward to playing this course again this spring.
Great layout
The last time I visited farthingstone was over 10 years ago and I couldn’t remember too much about the course so when I saw it come up on GolfNow app I thought we’d give it a try. Given the fact it was a December day the quality of the tees and fairways were pretty good. Unfortunately the greens were a bit here and there and you could tell the long dry spells we’ve had during the summer have taken quite a toll. All things considered the £10 green fee was excellent value and I’m sure the greens will come back with time. Looking forward to coming back next spring/summer.
I play the course about 4 times a year with friends we always get a warm welcome from the pro & staff which is a great start to a days golf. Its a pleasure to play Farthingstone GC. If I lived closer I would definitely apply for membership.
Monday bargain
Had an 11.30 tee off in warm conditions with a little breeze. Course was in very good condition with just a few greens still recovering in places from the dry summer - but this did not detract from our experience.
It was a quiet round with no pressure so you could concentrate on your game. I was with my eldest son who is still learning the game- it was a good learning session for him.
Will certainly return soon.
Challenging course
Enjoyable round of golf spoiled by very poor greens
Getting worse
Don't think I'll be back and that's a real shame.
The holes are interesting, the landscape a fair challenge but the course condition is unacceptle
More sand on trees than in the bunkers. Uneven and strewn with debris.
We played gimme 2 for any time you made the surface.
A real shame
Challenging course!!!
Despite 40+ .mph winds really enjoyable game of golf in peaceful setting. Some lovely holes (par 3 11th one of my favourites!!).Friendly pro in shop. Can't wait to play again in more benign conditions!!
