Awful greens
The greens were so dry and not well kept, was impossible to play on them left after 6 holes. Never seen such bad greens
Avoid until the greens are sorted
I know it has been a very dry summer but even given that the state of the greens was unacceptable. No grass, full of cracks and bone dry.
Fingle Glen
Terrific facilities, one of a kind / undulating course. Let down by greens in very poor condition, won't elaborate as it's unfair to but the course could be terrific if they upgrade the irrigation system and greens / surround. Was told they will be this Autumn.
Awful
Greens are unplayable and in an awful condition (no grass)! No signage to direct you around the course and missed the 8th as a result.
Terrible condition
The course has been abandoned, the course layout is lovely but unfortunately looks like it’s been left to rot, more weeds than sand in the bunkers , the greens are the worst I have ever played.
Such a shame
Worst course ever played
Green were terrible, was unsure on most greens where next tee box was and once on them not sure where to drive.
No course holes on card so most hole firing and hoping.
On a plus staff were friendly oh that's all the good can say.
Would not recommend for Golf but the lodges and setting was great.
Good course but shocking greens
From tee to green very good, but the greens are absolutely shocking and hardly any grass. Trying to putt was nearly impossible
Run down
The golf club is in serious decline, the greens are in a terrible state
Nice enough, BUT
Had a Saturday morning round recently, first time playing here. Initially it looks and plays like a lovely course, then you land on the green. They are unplayable, balls literally hoping here and there. Bunkers are awful, overgrown and hard, and half the tee boxes had uneven surfaces and long grass. I know it’s Saturday morning but this was awful. It could be such a lovely course. If you don’t mind this and happy to play drops from bunkers and gimmes within a certain distance, this place would be fine. No record rounds being won here!
Bat was lovely and Sri is we’re reasonable, staff very friendly.
Shocking
The course is shocking greens have rabbit holes all burnt grass, easily get lost on the course sand has weeds growing and fairways are rough, £35 for a round on that is a joke specially when it looks like the way it is , the pace of play is amazing because no one is on the course its that bad
Really Poor Worst golf course ever in 35 years
Played here for my Brother's birthday 🎂.Had to apologise all the time to him during the round, and forgot to take photos .
Club is in receivership and very few staff. All bunkers under grass and weeds
Golf now needs to withdraw this course as this is robbery and should not be taking customers money
Whilst I accept the weather has been very hot.We did not have a decent green during the whole round.
Spoke with one of the managers and changing with investment to nine holes (Why)
The worst course I've played.
We arrived on a Sunday morning to a car park with only 1 other car in it. Alarm bells rang straight away. Nice hotel/reception/bar area. Pleasant enough girl who served us with toasties and hot drinks. Was told that we could tee off anytime after 09:30, even though we were booked a 10:30 tee off. More alarm bells, nobody playing on a Sunday? There had to be a reason. After 2 holes we found the reason. The course has been neglected badly. The greens are shocking, with a weevil/worm infestation and plenty of animal scratchings on the greens. The bunkers were that bad that we decided to treat them all as GUR. The course has some great holes and in it's heyday would have been a great test. I will be gobsmacked if this course is still in operation next year.
Round of Golf
There's really only one good thing to say about this course and that's the views of the surrounding countryside, the fairways were uncut and the greens were awful and I mean awful my lawn at the rear of my house is better. Would i recommend this course to anyone no I would not, this has to be the worse course that I have ever played on.
Not playable
we have played here before and it has been a nice course to play on but this time was SHOCKING, we had a tee off time of 5.30pm and got there at 5pm and was told no one else was on the course so could go straight off and the club house would be shut at 7pm which rang alarm bells straight away. the course has not been maintained, the fairways was like semi rough and if you landed in the rough you couldn't find your ball. the bunkers was like concrete and had weeds growing out of them. the green were unplayable, holes in them and ball just bobbles. I can't believe that it cost me £70. £35. each for that i wouldn't pay a $5. to play there.
between us both we probably lost 12 balls.
Is there away of getting a refund on this??
A dying golf course
£35 for a Tuesday 0820 round was such a ridiculous amount for this place. Sad to say, but's clearly a dying golf course. All bunkers were GUR, more weeds than sand amd my friend asked if I was playing in Ukraine because of the state of the greens.
Nice layout with some nice holes, but just seems to be one greenskeeper keeping it going. Avoid for anytjing less than a steal to play there. £15-20 would be reasonable.
Terrible
On starting round no signage to tell you were to go, no map on scorecard greens were terrible no maintenance on them holes, all over course from either badgers or dogs the rough was like. Jungle very poor
Expensive for a poor conditioned course
No pro shop, awful greens with weeds, cracks and grass cuttings left on it. For the start of summer, the course was not well kept at all.
Good course
First time playing the course, good layout and some challenging holes. Overall a good day.
A very pleasant diversion
I had passed Fingle Glen golf course many times as I trundled backwards and forwards along the A30. The opportunity to play here came as I sought a place to while away half a day whilst my car was being serviced at Marsh Barton.
I invited a friend and we booked a midday tee time. On arrival the course was quiet so we were able to play straightaway. The club pro on reception was welcoming and very helpful and the Greens cafe is very pleasant.
The course is quite agricultural and straddles the side of a steep hill looking south towards Dartmoor. So at 5,660yds it is quite challenging and isn’t a ‘walk in the park’. It’s very open and exposed and I would imagine could get boggy in places. The fairways are wide and quite thickly cut so the ball doesn’t run. The greens are mossy and therefore slow. However, it’s reasonably priced at £35 / round and provided the perfect interlude in what could have been a very boring day.
