Great greens
Got a hot deal off teeofftimes (£16) and was pleasantly surprised by the quality/condition of the course. The greens were superb and the fairways well tended,in fact the whole course was better than I remembered.
The 1st and 10th have now swapped since I last visited but I think it works better.
Would recommend to anyone who wants a great course at a reasonable price.
Lovely course - some players need to read up on etiquette - hope they were not members!
A lovely course and hard working grounds staff. Nice greens and it looks like there is going to be some real investment over the coming months. Working hard with outside facilities for refreshments in the lovely weather.
I HAVE NEVER FELT THAT I HAVE NEEDED TO ADD COMMENTS BEFORE BUT >>
Followed a slow 2 ball but then found out why - as they were let through by a four ball. Never seen such slow play
For example : - when playing a par three - it took one player 3 shots to get into a green side bunker - and then 7(seven!!) shots to get out before three putting on the green whilst the other 3 looked on before holing out themselves. - astonished!
We were then accused by the pair following us of jumping into the course at 10 because that was the only reason that there was slow play. I took offence at this!
Whilst we were playing the same par three a single player walked up our hole and then was standing on the next tee when we got there and said" I have a hospital appointment and so i am overtaking you !" No please or thank you.
Must have been a bad day - never had this happen before or are there local rules that we did not know about? Motorbike trolleys aside! lovely course and very pleasant staff in the pro shop and on the course!
Holiday Golf
Warm welcome from friendly staff good price match on clubs, good value course. A long course nice and open.16to17 not marked well but members helpful when you look lost, twice. Snacks and drinks at 9th &18th but miss a draught pint.I would recommend this course.
Holiday Golf
A long course, wide open fairways but grass a bit long( could be to avoid drying out) hard to see ball. Very friendly staff and players. They do a good snack and drinks but I miss a pint of draught beer.I would recommend this course to all golfers.
The pro & shop were welcoming and willing to make a good deal for you, new clubs ,putters etc.
Good array of different holes
Very impressed with this course, the holes are all different which makes you think more about club selection. Really enjoyed it here, will be back for sure.
A good challenge
After Friday's all day downpour, a bit wet underfoot, but some interesting holes. Well worth a visit
Excellent condition good greens
Course in excellent condition. Greens fast and true, fairways well cut. Testing course with good variety of holes with excellent layout, plenty of challenges. Definitely be back again
Stop moaning!
The title is aimed at some of the reviewers I have read! My son and I had a thoroughly enjoyable round on a beautiful course - we are relearning the game after a break of many years, and this course will draw us back many times in the future.Terrific value, friendly staff and other players were enjoying the day - excellent.
We last played Forest Hill together in 1992, but I have been back with others a few times - it is great to see how the course has matured, and that the original mobile prefab clubhouse has been replaced by a fine modern building.
course let down by golfers
This is a nice golf course with great facilities let down by the people that use it. I have been playing golf for over 30 years, gave up due to the pace of play at my course about 6 years ago but being drawn back into the gave due to my son taking up the game. We played on a Sunday afternoon with a pleasant couple, the course was in nice condition, the greens are excellent and quite quick, it was the bunkers that let it down, people were not raking them after they had played shots out of them, not on but all the bunkers I saw had footprints in, not from one person but a number of people.
Also the greens of the ninth and eighteenth are quite close together, while playing the ninth a player on the ninth hit my sons golf bag there was no shout of warning and no apology for the shot. Again when we played the eighteenth a similar occurrence when a ball came close to us with no warning. Play the course but keep an eye on those around you.
Good Challenge for all
Nice layout and a good challenge.
Fairways were in good condition however the greens were overgrown and the speed varied from hole to hole.
First Round of Golf in 2017
Tee reservation was very simple and straightforward. The staff in the Pro Shop were very friendly and helpful (nothing was too much trouble). The course management in general was good, but only criticism we would have would be the poor condition of a few of the tees (uncut and poorly maintained) The Clubhouse & Locker Rooms were first class and catering staff very much in keeping with the Pro Shop. Subsequently, the overall experience was extremely enjoyable and excellent value for money. Most certainly would recommend this course to any golfer thinking of playing here for the first time and already looking forward to our next visit. Many congratulations to everyone associated with running and maintaining Forest Hill Golf Club. Kind Regards, Pamela & Michael.
Nice course
Excellent course. Almost faultless for price.
Only problem was , off winter tee mats which are not up to scratch
Unable to get tee in to them. They had rubber ones on them but not suitable for me.
Apart from that great course
Will play again in summer
