Sunny day

No wind very warm but very scenic courses with interesting undulating fairways and lots of run on the ball Greens slightly slower than expected but think there had been some rain overnight but still provided a good challenge with contours and pin positions

Turned up and it was clear, they had overbooked.

By the time my 12.15 tee time came around there were still 4 buggies on the tee and all 4 balls.

I left at 12.35 without hitting a ball as i could see a 5 hour round otherwise

The course was looking good

Good all round upkeep at the course. Greens - very good. Tee boxes overall good. Fairway - good. Bunkers (unfortunately I tested a few of them) good.

Beautiful day

A fantastic course. Well kept and the greens were in fantastic condition with lovely rolls. Hired a buggy which was expensive at £30 as most range from 20 to 25. Had a pint in the club house before heading home.

Highly recommended

My 3rd round at Forest of Dean and haven't been disappointed with any of them. A well laid out and well tended course that doesn't punish wayward shots too harshly, well not on most holes. Only slight negative was the greens, which seemed to have too much grass on them, making it difficult to judge pace.

Well kept, windy course

Enjoyed this open course. No player pressure. Generous fairways and no real rough. Greens seemed slow, but that may just be my putting.

Excellent Value

Booked this course on a hot deal, and for what we paid, it couldn't be faulted. Some nice holes, greens in reasonable condition, fairways not the best but perfectly adequate. Wasn't too busy and got around in good time. Excellent course to walk, no buggy needed. Will definitely play again.

Lovely course

Really enjoyed the course. Fairways and greens in good condition. Pace of play was excellent - no delays. Food and beer was pricey- £5.50 for a pint of Stella Artois and £13.50 for a burger.

Great value

Great deal as usual, business model is cheap deals keeping course busy downside is bit of a procession round , par 5 we were one group of 4 playing on same hole,, waiting on almost all holes. Temp tees all round but all greens open. Signage could be better in particular coming off 9th trying find 10th fortunately played last year so knew where this temp tee box was about 80 yards further back . Overall if played before you know what to expect. Staff were very friendly and good facilities for drink and meal after.

Lovely course but waterlogged

This course is a lovely course and the staff are very friendly. The only thing stopping me giving was a couple of holes being a bit boggy due to a week of rain previously. I will be back in the summer to sample it in the proper conditions.

A Little Soggy

Enjoyed playing course albeit after a few days or rain. About 5 challenging holes otherwise not that interesting.

Off course hotel bar was a kids playground. There is nothing worse that wrecking your eardrums through the uncontrolled screaming of a herd of someone else’s children.

Will play the course again later in the year.

Great vfm

Although the course was very wet after the deluge of the previous few days it stood up pretty well. Greens were wet which meant you could throw the ball right up to to the hole but still putted true if a little slow. Overall a great day had.

Well worth a visit

Generous fairways are generally open and inviting for good shot making, but with a range of hazards to make strategy important. Good greens for time of year. Played the course on a damp day, which did not affect course too badly.

Will not bother returning

2 hour's 45 minutes to play 9 holes, got to the 10th there were a group on the green a fourball in the fairway + a group waiting to tee off pretty much as it was on every par 4 up to this point. Found out there were 2 societies out & members, enough was enough we retired and didn’t bother with further torture of more slow play. Disappointed that the course was over subscribed so this will be entered onto the will not return list in fact it’s the first one on there.
