Good value for money

Not the most inspiring of courses, quite hilly in parts and a lot of holes very similar in design/layout. Reasonable value for money, worth a visit, very friendly staff.

Lovely parkland course

Pro shop welcome was excellent. Shop itself is well stocked and competitively priced.

Spoke to a few members pre round who were also nice and welcoming.

Course was in decent condition, greens a little 'fluffy' in need of a cut but as it was Sunday on a BH weekend it was to be expected. At least they were very consistent.

Will be back for sure

An enjoyable round

The course plays nicely, although some of the rough had not been cut due to the weather. The greens were in excellent condition. One bunker was terrible- not able to get under the ball at all.

The pro was very helpful and friendly and shared tips.

I thought it was expensive compared to other courses of a similar standard. I’ve played better courses for less money.

Superb day's golf

Never disappoints! Have played Gathurst fairly regularly over recent years and it is always enjoyable - the set-up is always fair, course conditions excellent and this makes for a great day's golf.

The two 9s are different but equally challenging, the front nine is longer, you need to plan your way around, the back nine significantly shorter but equally tricky.

The greens were superb - quite quick for this early in the year but very true.

Although the weather has been quite dry of late there were some softer patches here and there but these were away from the fairways and didn't cause any issues.

I look forward to my next visit and trying to better my best ever score around Gathurst this time.

Rain spoiled the course

We have played this course probably 7 times over the last few years and have always found it in excellent condition, unfortunately this time it was like a bog in the rough and the greens were slow and very uneven, I understand that the holatining had been done a few weeks earlier and I understand that has to be done so can’t complain about that. But I have never played it in such a wet boggy condition and I suppose we just have to say avoid it for about 6 weeks until the rough has been cut because you won’t find your ball if you don’t hit the fairway.

Great Course - Shame about the weather

I have to give an honest review based on the day we had. It was wet and windy, absolutely awful conditions, only idiots would play in it.

The course itself is really good, a good test but also gives you opportunities to score.

The two downsides were the conditions were awful, standing water everywhere but absolutely nothing the club can do about that but the greens weren't the best. I think they'd been treated so were longer than you'd expect and very, very slow. Leaving putts ten feet short and I know I'm a bad putter but even still!!

What I would say though is I'll definitely look to go back when the weathers better, could be tomorrow, could never happen.

Great value

Lovely little course really enjoyed it.

Great condition for this time of year, greens needed some TLC and were slow especially the front 9 however that’s to be expected this time of year.

Great value, would definitely come back.

A little gem

Well situated near the M6, I’ve seen this course while driving past and always wanted to play here. I noticed it on golf now and was very affordable for a 3 ball. The course is in immaculate condition, the greens had a little bit of work completed so where a little rough but nothing too bad. The scenery is lovely and considering the M6 is nearby the noise is not that bad. There’s also a train line that runs down the bottom which adds to the charm of the course for me. My only problem is the signage of holes and direction of the next holes as we were new and had no one to follow we got lost once or twice but a great course. I’d love to play again and I’m thinking about becoming a member but it maybe out of my price range considering I’ll only play 7 or 8 months of the year.

Enjoyable round.

This course is easy to navigate, all tees well signed. Front 11 holes lovely and peaceful, we thought 12 onwards to be noisier due to road noise from adjacent M6 traffic. Quite a demanding course due to the slopes on several holes- which created a challenge- which we enjoyed!! The greens and fairways were in excellent condition- a very well maintained course. Especially liked how every tee had ball washing facilities and a cloth! All in all a lovely round- Thankyou.

Average course

Not worth £35 or £25 for an old dirty petrol buggy. Tees were very confusing and awkward course to play unless you knew the layout.

Driver kept getting me in trouble first 9 and got 11 points.

Put it away and used my five wood and parred every hole off 10.

Short but challenging

Played Gathurst for the first time in perfect weather. The course was in extremely good condition from teebox to green. Although not long, the course is often unforgiving of errant tee shots, so accuracy off the tee is required. The recent additions to the actual architecture of Gathurst make it an extremely attractive parkland course, and my brother and I would highly recommend it. I will certainly be looking to play it again, though, hopefully, with a rather better score than the one I achieved last week.

Great test of golf

We played at 15.30 on a warm summer evening and had the course to ourselves. Not the longest course around but with the undulating tree lined fairways and well protected greens it was far from easy. Some greens had very subtle and clever designed slopes and borrows which kept you thinking even after hitting in regulation the job was far from finished. We didn’t score well but really enjoyed the round and had a close match. The greens were a little long and slow and were maybe due a cut or I would have given five stars. Will definitely return again, as it is so easy to access from the motorway
