Hidden Gem
Past this place on many a journey on M6 northbound is visible from carriage way in valley alongside cannal looks beautiful well kept 18 holes with challenging greens staff super friendly club house benefits from bi folding door opening up on to patio overlooking 18 green highly recommend this venue to anyone
Great course, made to feel very welcome.
fantastic condition , hats off to the green keepers.
Testing course that will have you using all your clubs, can be punishing if you dont make fairway, all in all a course that will improve your overall golf, i may have to join
Great course
Guy in pro shop was very helpful, course was in amazing condition. There was a comp on, but a fourball in front lost balls on two occasions and took way to long searching. I was sat on the tee box for way over 5 mins. Watching 4 men walking in circles.
Apart from that the course was in immaculate condition, well worth a visit.
Busy
Lovely course but busy and congested - took quite a while to get round!
Disappointed
Course has a great layout on front 9 but holes feel squashed together on back. Tee ground uneven and rough given how little golf recently. It was a competition day so challenging flag positions but greens at bottom of course messy, wet and slow. Standing water on at least 4 greens and water coming up under feet even at high point of course. Should be pristine condition but sadly not and still charging £27 for a twilight round. Expected better!
Great course
First time I've played this course,, but won't be the last, I've already booked another round.
Testing your ability to play all the clubs in your bag, a nice size course, great green conditions, could have had a few more arrows for the next tee box area, but overall a great course, with friendly staff and members.
Gathurst golf
Great course fantastic greens looking forward to playing here again soon .
Shame the course is so soft!!
Excited at the prospect of playing a new course as always I opted for Gathurst as I'd been past many times before and opted to visit here.
Very nice mature parkland setting with some very nice holes. Wind made it challenging throughout the round.
Just a shame the course was so wet. In most areas drainage was a huge issue. All the greens felt very very soft, to the point you felt bad just walking on them. Spongy would be accurate. Even pitches were leaving impact marks on them.
If they were to address this huge issue throughout the course, this place would be a joy to play. As it is now I'm left scratching my head as to how a established course such as this can hold so much water after only a few days of rain. Maybe a drought is in order before going again.
Good day
I have always wanted to play at Gathurst Golf Club and it was worth the wait, the course is in good condition even though it was raining the night before.
The greens at fabulous when you need a good touch to judge the pace.
The members and staff are friendly.
Overall a good day and I would visit again
Lovely course
First time playing at this course and as soon as we booked in at the golf shop we were greeted to a nice welcome and the gentleman explained where to find toilets and first tee etc. The course layout is fantastic and it was in great condition. The green keepers were out all day tending to the course. Not a flat course but not to hilly either. Greens were quite slow but again in great condition. Some short par 5s that you can have a good go at and some nice par 3s. Over all I would highly recommend this course and will definitely be back again!
Gathurst G C
Very nice golf course with some very picturesque hole. Greens in great condition. Bargain at £20 each. Pro at shop was very friendly and helpful. Didn’t use clubhouse so couldn’t comment on that.
Good course given winter conditions
Played this course with friends and considering amount of rain over last few weeks etc. The course was in really good condition. Especially true of the greens, doubt there are any in better condition for time of year.
Pro shop explained two holes closed due to emergency drainage work. This wasn’t problem considering wet underfoot.
Pro shop gave us mats for use on fairways/rough and although not over large they are standard size available at most clubs.
Staff were pleasant and helpful as were the few members who we came across .
The food obtained after was really good and availability of choice was more than adequate and didn’t lead to confusion by being over expansive.
Will definitely play again when weather improves and will definitely recommend to my own members.
Considering condition and only 16 holes open it is still good value for money.
gathers golf club
gathers golf club is what they call a hidden gem everything about it is top class and very enjoyable nothing but praise for the course and will return
old padeswood golf course
arrived at the golf course twenty minutes before our tee time and were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff.
we really enjoyed the course and its mixture of holes .
greens were good and will look forward to returning.
bentham golf course
arrived at the course and were greeted by the professional who was very friendly . the course was in great condition and the greens were the best I've played this year without doubt. this course is a hidden gem and would certainly play again the only negative was the location as it is quite fiddly to get to . .A mention must go to the green staff for producing the course in such great condition. will be back.
berrington hall golf
arrived at the golf course to a friendly and off to the first tee .course tees were quite short but still challenging . for the time of year and the recent bad weather the course was in good condition . will come back in summer and would recommend this what we thought was a very good golf course with a mixture of holes.
not a winter course you wanna play
booked to play a four ball. when got the course was told 2 holes where unplayable was given a winter mat to play from fairways which was just silly little Matt's about 10 inch long. with it being winter was hitting of matts from the tee boxes which I dont mind but was no holes in the matts so couldn't put a tee in the Matt's just 100% not a winter course and would advise everyone not to play it in the winter save your money and go the range.
A very pleasant surprise
An absolutely fantastic golf course, Iv been telling all my friends about this place since I played it.
No one else has problem with tee box mats. There are places for tees. Would not be possible to find parkland course in good condition considering weather over last few weeks etc.
This course is value for money and staff are always friendly to visitors.
I play this course regularly and have never experienced any problems.
2 holes closed due to urgent drainage work, collapsed drain, Small mats are for rough/fairway use only. Tees are never allowed to be used in rough or fairways by any club.
There is nothing wrong with this course in winter. As with all clubs has suffered due to exceptional amount of rain.
