Gatton Manor Hotel Golf & Country Club

Tee boxes and fairways maybe needed a little TLC but in all honesty for the money I paid and how lovely the course was I couldn’t say anything else than it’s a little gem of a track, loads of potential to be really good if they can get some more ground staff but a really enjoyable round, greens played true and will definitely be back.

A very enjoyable day the course was in good order the greens had been sanded but we were told this before we started. A challenging course if you are out if position.

Course felt really unloved - maintenance on greens is desperately needed

We played here on Saturday for the first time, and what a lovely course, fairways and greens in brilliant condition and will definitely be going back again soon.

Hi I picked this course because it had a hot deal for 12 midweek played a two ball cost 18.99 total can't complain about this course at all layout was decent ,staff was friendly and after the weekends rain the greens still played true with a nice roll ,main reason for writing this message is that it looks like the hotel could do with a spruce and hopefully the locals will start supporting there course, I drove from pompey to play this and can't wait to go back in summer to play again,

The course is in great condition for the time of year, the greens were very well manicured. Obviously there are wet patches but mostly in the longer grass , the fairways are in fine condition aswell.

Course was in good condition considering the weather the way it has been 1 issue we found but could not be resolved was the amount of leaves on the course losing ball in amongst the leaves was a problem even on the fairways.

Couple of points to bear in mind at this time for this course and venue.

There’s a small meeting building for golfers. No hot food unless you preorder before you arrive. No bother but unless you are aware you’ll be eating crisps and chocolate bars.

The staff were amazing. Couldn’t do more for you.

Course was very very wet. Has been a wet few months and it’s on clay so poor course is sodden and spongey in a lot of the course even on the greens! So being so wet it’s getting quite affected by anything being on it.

We love the layout and and potential but it’s all needing to be drier and maintained a bit more.

The hotel is closed and is due to be one day rebuilt so things in very much limbo. Green fee I think fairly reflects the state of the course however. We got a Friday midday for £21. Can’t moan. We had a nice 18 holes of whacking ball about. :-)

Great well layed out corse. Hard challenge, very impressive looking. But doesn't drain well.

Good course, long, narrow in part, tough and a good test..some greens need work and the planned refurbishment of clubhouse/hotel can’t come soon enough and must include budget for course improvements too!

We had a lovely game, fantastic weather and gorgeous greens. Some tricky holes, lost a few balls but also lots of lovely open long fairways.

Greeting by the staff was very good and very quiet with not many people on the course which made it a pleasant afternoon. Would play again but maybe a little cooler.

Played a Sunday (non member) three ball. Looking for a cheaper option and £40 a player I wasn’t expecting this much quality. Was the first out of the day (7:30am) and the conditions of the course were fantastic. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were brilliant the whole way round.

As the main clubhouse is under construction, you’re not gonna get food after but the little pop up club shop offers everything you need pre and post round. Really enjoyed it and we’ll be back soon.

Stunning course, well laid out. Very challenging and extremely quick greens.

I played this course with my golf society many moons ago, when we were fit enough to do 18 in the a.m. and a Texas scarmble p.m. (Those days are long gone)

I remember it as a lovely course from that long ago time, and I wasn't disappointed, haven't had a more pleasant round of golf in a very long time.

Chatted to the Club captain afterwards over a beer, and he said that although the club has had some ownership issues in the past, evrything is now settled, and that shows in the quality of the course.

We will be back.

Four ball society , who were all clueless , no etiquette but nice enough. Meant a two ball booked following on from them were dead in the water after nine holes. Even though we gave them a 45 minute start by staying in the lounge area and enjoying a sunny afternoon.

Great shame but understand the difficulties of societies for the club and members .

Good course , beautiful surroundings , great value for money . 👍.
