A very good course for 'average' ability.
We have played this course quite a few times and we are 'average' ability, (and very rusty after the COVID-19 break). It's in very good condition for a public golf course and presents few major challenges, meaning less lost balls! Greens weren't in very good condition this time, which was disappointing, as they are usually ok. But fairways good, and we had no waiting or pressure behind us, as it was quite quiet. We always enjoy playing here.
Great Value Course
First time played here for me and as a beginner golfer I really enjoyed the course. Able to get round ok, some fantastic holes and views. For £15pp its great value, and had a fantastic morning of golf.. Most greens in great condition. Will definitely be coming here again.
Nice layout
Nice layout, fairly forgiving off most tees as rough isn't too thick. Some of the greens were in pretty bad shape but it didn't spoil the round.
Farm shop and bar on site. Say no more.
a break from the rain
sunny day , so got a round in - good conditions , in far better nick than last year
2.5hr round
OK so it's an average course. Greens are poor but it's cheap and was quick for an after work knock
Poor condition
After 4 months of lockdown with no golf and after the winter you’d think the course would be healed. No. Off the fairways there was still tractor tracks that had dug up the ground during the wet summer months that was left over winter and has now hardened. It was like fox holes and bomb cremated, it resembled the Somme in some points. The greens were awful. There was pit holes all over the green, so the ball bobbled all over. In the first tee there was screaming kids running down from the play area near by with their uninterested mothers in tag. When we requested that she and her kids a be quiet and b don’t go in front of the tee when a player S about to take a shot she scoured at us. I’ll not play this course again. I’ve given it one star because I have to
Good challenging course
Course was in good condition and will look forward to playing it again in the future
Greens
Greens were in very poor condition. On course signage was none existing
Great views. The course is very good but not easy it plays across different levels and is difficult in menu areas
Good for this time of year but the greens need a lot of attention I like the variation from one hole to the next mostly wide driveways up hill and down hill. Every hole is different and aplesure to play. I will play this course a lot more.
Haigh hall
For the time of year it played really well. Course is well drained with No boggy areas. The greens are a little patchy but will improve as the year progresses with more growth. Would definitely play the course again.
First game after lockdown
It was great to play a round after month's of no golf. The course was in average condition but hey we've had a very wet winter. For the price this course is great value with some very testing holes.
Very wet
New walkways were good, the adjacent ground not so, excavator tracks a foot deep on the fairway side not so, greenskeeper’s tractor tyre tracks across and down the fairways on numerous holes weren’t so good, still VERY wet, even boggy - strange considering it’s not rained for nearly a fortnight, fairways ok if damp underfoot, greens and tee boxes generally good for the time of year, pace of play a little slow but plenty on.
First round of spring
Course in decent condition today except the greens. If the standard of the greens improve then this will certainly make the course more appealing to players. All in all though I would say I was happy with the course today
Decent for what it is
A decent enough course. Still very wet even this late in the year. Wouldn’t like to see it in winter. Very hilly too. A tiring walk by the end. Nice layout to some holes. Generally a decent golf course. Exactly what you would expect for £15.
