Hart Common Golf Club - Main Course

First impressions are good , nice entrance and well kept. Hard to find pro shop but he was very helpful. Putting area was in a good spot close to first tee. Corse was well laid out and in places is going through some maintenance work and newly planted trees. It was wet condition but firm under foot, the greens are firm and fast , struggled to keep the ball on the greens on approach. Play was slow ( seniors four ball) but not a problem for us . This place will get better when all the work is finished and planting is established. Good value for the price and a decent pint in the clubhouse.

Absolutely shocking. Course not fit for purpose and needs closing until sorted. Got a call before playing saying greens had work being done so if we wanted to play they would give us half price next time we book. Fair enough we were happy with that.

If only that was the problem…. 3 holes closed, the majority of the course had tee boxes moved significantly closer and the course was swamped. Ontop of this there are mud piles, diggers and building work on almost every hole. Divets are all over the fairway. Had they have told us any of this when we arrived we would have cancelled and played elsewhere. Instead we paid £30 each for what can only be described as the worse course conditions I’ve ever seen.

Throughout the year

Always enjoy Hart Common, but for January it’s still playing fantastic! All greens where open and rolling well, they obviously look after the course. Some work going on to improve the paths but didn’t really affect play. Bunkers full of fresh raked sand. One of the best NW courses in winter conditions by far I’ve played. Good job course staff 👍

Course in great condition for the time of year, with no temporary greens or playing off mats, lots of undulations and features to keep things interesting. Staff in pro shop really friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend and already planning on coming back to play again.

Always great for winter golf! They look after the course so well and you can tell they have pumped money into the drainage system...no temporary greens or tees. Staff are very friendly and the trackman is a plus on the range. It is, at the moment, my club of choice. Brilliant as always.

Arrived for my tee time to be told the course was closed due to overnight rain. I asked why we couldn’t have received a courtesy call or email to save our journey as the website was not working properly, which was dismissed as not possible. Common courtesy would be to alert paying customers of the situation I’d have though. Course looked nice from the car park though

18 pound on a hot deal excellent value. Enjoy playing here. Nice greens and some long holes. Would be happy to return.

This course is in absolutely fantastic condition, especially given the torrential rain we had 24 hours before we played. It has some very long challenging par fives, plus a few equally challenging but shorter par threes. All in all this is a really enjoyable, challenging course. The only thing that lets it down is the clubhouse, which is extremely tired and in need of a makeover. It’s a great course if you just want to play and head home. If you are desperate for a pint after your round, maybe find one of the nicer pubs in Westhoughton.

Played 18 x holes at Hart Common, the course was cut well , the greens was in great condition and the amenities such, as driving range and practice greens was great. Food and a beer later was a great end to the day.

We will be back, no doubt.

Played Hart Common today, excellent greens, course in good condition, quite challenging, particularly last 3 holes.

Great course , challenging but good , plenty of bunkers ! Hired buggies which were good value , some good looking holes , greens in good condition and fairways and rough neat and tidy . Would definitely book again

The course was in very good condition despite the bad weather, place of play was very good and greens were good! Great round

Played here many times and although can get a little busy at times, the course tends to be ok during a weekday.
