Haigh hall
For the time of year it played really well. Course is well drained with No boggy areas. The greens are a little patchy but will improve as the year progresses with more growth. Would definitely play the course again.
First game after lockdown
It was great to play a round after month's of no golf. The course was in average condition but hey we've had a very wet winter. For the price this course is great value with some very testing holes.
Very wet
New walkways were good, the adjacent ground not so, excavator tracks a foot deep on the fairway side not so, greenskeeper’s tractor tyre tracks across and down the fairways on numerous holes weren’t so good, still VERY wet, even boggy - strange considering it’s not rained for nearly a fortnight, fairways ok if damp underfoot, greens and tee boxes generally good for the time of year, pace of play a little slow but plenty on.
First round of spring
Course in decent condition today except the greens. If the standard of the greens improve then this will certainly make the course more appealing to players. All in all though I would say I was happy with the course today
Decent for what it is
A decent enough course. Still very wet even this late in the year. Wouldn’t like to see it in winter. Very hilly too. A tiring walk by the end. Nice layout to some holes. Generally a decent golf course. Exactly what you would expect for £15.
The Somme
Course should have been closed , was like playing in the trenches at the Somme. Had to Wade through 6 inches of mud at every hole, please close this course until spring.
Bad weather conditions today and very muddy in areas
The one great thing about days like today is you always get the option to play 3 holes and if you’re not satisfied you can claim a full refund or move your round to another date in the calendar. For a Municipal I feel this is one of the best around
First time
Haig hall was teaming with people and family’s as it was an adventure park for a family day out . The course was very hilly and challenging however it added to the difficulty that the fairways stopped well before the greens and that your aplproach shots to the green were made on pure mud . Also the course had not seen a lawn mower in a long time
Plugged
Greens are good. Everything else was poor, ball hard to find needd better drainage
Very wet especially the fairways, the greens were in very good shape considering the rain that had been put down.
Enjoyed this course, although it was a little challenging at times due in part to it being damp and boggy in places after the rain over the couple days & the windy conditions (had a lot of mud balls).Only real gripe would be that the 1st cut was a bit too long. It was difficult to locate your ball when just off the fairway. Greens were excellent, deceptively quick. Would definitely like to go back and play it when dry.
Good value for money
Challenging layout and generally well maintained. Some super-fast, tricky greens. Overall very good value for money.
Better on-course direction signage would improve things for the new or occasional visitor (ie location of next tee)
Staff at reception were helpful And green staff were considerate and not intrusive.
We enjoyed the visit and the challenges of the course. We would definitely re-visit the course.
Good course parking bad
As this is a golf complex and park during the weekend the car parking is very busy with family events going on, the course it’s self is decent though.
Quite a tight course As the tees sort of over lap each other it’s well set out though.
Not recommended if walking not to good as it’s very hilly, the greens are quite fast but well looked after and the views are superb on good days.
It’s likely to be a bit harsh in wet weather, but all in all It’s a good course.
