Fairwell Hall Garth
I really like this course, it’s challenging but playable.
Unfortunately, I believe the course is due to close at the end of March. I therefore wanted to get a final round in. I enjoyed it and feel it’s a shame for the course to close.
Not as expected.
9 hole course with option to play 18 fro different view points. However, the different view points are not clearly indicated.
Difficult to find way around course as signage is minimal. Hole 6 cemetery closed. Hole 5 Par 5 shorted to Par 3. None of this was mentioned prior to booking or before teeing off. Spent a lot of time looking for the next tee and had to ask locals to point me in the right direction.
Course not in great condition but that is to be expected this time of year.
Overall, not impressed and will not be returning.
Terrible
2 holes are out so it's not a full 9 hole course and it is closing down so the conditions and course is not worth playing, would pick somewhere else to play.
Excellent value for money
Good quality technical little course with different features (water, bunkers, blond shots).
Staggered tees between front and back 9 weren’t in play which was a shame but apart from that couldn’t fault it.
Potential but let down...
This course has lots of potential but unfortunately, due to lack of attentiveness and the basics, it was not worth it. No area to even clean shoes (not even a brush). When asking staff, I was met with very dismissive tones like they didn't want the hassle. Shame really as it's a beautiful area and could be great. Only redeeming feature was the cheap price.
First time playing here
First time playing here and first time using golf now which I will be def using again
Play around the course was a bit slow as loads of 4 balls playing.course was really busy maybe bit quieter thro the week but for £10.99 for 18 holes cannot complain.
Could be a brilliant course
Some potentially superb holes (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 8th are all possible standouts) marred badly by conditions. I've played here a few times now and it's never been in particularly good condition. Greens were woolly and had mud patches, fairways barely distinguishable from the first cut, some pitiful bunkers and, on the second, a random patch of builders' sand in front of the pond . If the maintenance and conditions were better it has the potential to be a hidden gem.
Decent condition but a few Mickey Mouse holes
Decent value for money and decent condition. Obvious non golfers in front of us so very slow. 2 or 3 silly holes on this 9 hole course.
Worst was I was away for weekend and didn’t have my electric trolley with me and there were no buggies or even a pull trolley to hire at 11am tee off so had to carry a large bag. Ended up taking half my set out 😩
Lovely environment
For the price and value , the. Course is excellent.
Warm welcome, pleasant members and we had a extremely good day for two children beginners learning the game of golf.
Barley playable
I called in advance to check the course was open as it had been raining and all other local courses were closed. Was told the course was open so I assumed that there was good drainage in place which allowed the course to remain open. When we arrived, every hole had a ridiculous amount of standing water, making many of the holes unplayable
The course was in excellent condition
Played 18 holes, this course is a 9 hole course that usually has different tees for some holes on the back nine for an 18 holer , same tees on our visit but probably because early season, however the course was in excellent condition, the fairways were mint and the rough ( second cut) is not too damaging. Lots of trees to crucify your poor shots, but the greens were lush for this time of year. Well maintained, maybe a little slow and need another trim ( imo) but that’s not a negative comment as again they were really good condition. Definitely recommend. Very good scenery and a good beer garden to chill in after the round.
Cheap and cheerful
Really good for beginners although let down on several issues. Biggest gripe is the scorecards, pars and teebox don't match. The other are more lack of opportunity for them like the only place for buying drinks is the main bar off reception which is no good when you cheats are dragging half the course, yer the bar near the course with the outside area is necer open.
Ignoring the above it's got some good driving tees that are open for learners and plenty of features to practice short game atvtge greens. Worth £15 for 18 holes.
Price hike
Price hike exceptional. Pre lockdown was £5 for 9 holes after 6pm now £20
Fab Course
Played today with my husband. Friendly staff , the course layout is great. Signage a bit confusing but got there in the end. Beautiful views and lovely amenities.
Had the most delicious fish and chips at the hotel bar.
Great place to chill and enjoy a good conversation with friends. Would visit again.
Hall Garth 👍
Played a few times and the course is well kept. Greens were good, played true. A challenging course and certainly doesn’t feel like a 9 hole course. Well worth a round.
