Bad service

I turned up to play and despite the golf clubs webside saying the course was open they had closed the course. Would not refund my money. On trying to contact golfnow i was set on hold for over 20 min until i gave up to get on with my day. Have sent them as email and I am awaiting a reply.

Fair challenge

Really enjoyed our round. Course a little wet on fairways and rough but considering recent weather course in good condition. Greens firm and quite fast. Challenging enough for high handicap players! Our two ball was paired with 2 other lads. We got on fine and were fortunately similar in abilities.

Clubhouse/bar staff very pleasant.

Not bad for a cheap deal, but not good enough to warrant full price

The course, as far as my group could tell, hasn’t really been improved since it was the municipal Stressholme course. The fairways weren’t cut well, and yet there was mown grass left everywhere. This meant the greens were covered in cut grass, being tracked onto them by every golfer’s shoes.

There are so many near-identical 330-380 yard par 4s, it proves a rather forgettable course, and we probably just won’t be coming back unless it’s a deal for £20 or less - there are far better and more interesting courses in the North East, and often for less than Blackwell’s overpriced full price.

Frustrating people can’t stick to there tee times

Enjoyed the course I wasn’t playing brilliant but when you tea off on time and 5 minutes late the group behind are already in the fairway and have tees off early. So because I was playing a 3 ball that were playing at good speed and I wasn’t great so was never gona catch them with a 2 ball chasing me round a course because they teed off early I just felt rushed and got more and more frustrated because I was rushing to try give me self some breathing space to calm myself down and found it impossible. Course was lovely and was a good test

Nice course

Great course, great greens, tree lined fairways. Only problem we had was we teed off at 0716. Driving range nor Golf shop was open so we had to dig a card out of the bin! Would definitely play again
