Really good course unfortunate weather downpour. Had 3x fourballs ladies infront. Waited for 20 mins on tee most of back 9. No play through even on own. Not courses fault but really made it less rhythmic on my golf game. Definitely play again here but I will ask about comps beforehand.

Sun burnt fairways

I've played Darlington plenty of times before and always enjoyed the experience unfortunately the weather this year ( lack of rain , no sprinklers on fairways ) has totally destroyed the Grass growth making playing from the fairways very unpleasant the ground is rock hard and bare and for this reason I will not be playing Darlington again this year and I know a lot of courses are in the same situation but this could have been prevented if sprinklers were installed it's something that they should look into for the future.

Solid

Warm welcome in the pro shop, decent driving range onsite and very cheap 25 balls before the round. Clubhouse very welcoming and good lunch after the round. Course in good nick all round. Didn’t like the double green for the first and ninth. No standout holes really but a very enjoyable round of golf and some challenging greens.

Nice course spoiled by etiquette issues

Nice course in good condition and our experience should have been five stars but wasn't due to issues that are hopefully an unfortunate one off - our group and others were stood waiting on every hole (20 minute wait on the 10th) - the problem appeared to relate to what we understand was a members four ball that had everyone backed up while they larked around having an alcohol fueled round of golf at everyone else's expense. Note that several of the holes are well protected by bunkers, nearby o.o.b. and the greens are somewhat tricky which can frustrate - if this isn't your sort of thing then I wouldn't recommend that you travel any significant distance to play the course.

Great value great course

I've play Darlington probably 20 time in the past five years but due to an injury haven't been able to get out much the past year and this is only my second game of the year the first being slaley hall ( Heritage course ) which was in awful condition anyway back to Darlington price very reasonable £27.00 morning tee time

Proshop fully stocked balls , gloves and clothing and equipment

Staff extremely friendly

Driving range decent layout, very cheap large bucket 90 balls £4.50

Course condition Excellent fairways well maintained greens fast and true ball rolls perfect

Clubhouse clean with good menu

Overall very satisfied and will definitely play again this year .

Wow

What a great and well kept course. This is a gem of golf course. The fairways were in excellent condition, the greens are some of the best I’ve played in County Durham. Very friendly Pro-Shop staff and all in the clubhouse. Nice freshly made sandwiches and scones.

A must play for golfers of all abilities.

Reasonable value for money, but….

We were unlucky, we did not realise that we had booked our round on the day of an open competition. We played as a 2-ball, playing behind the last 4-ball of the day, so the round was painfully slow. Early morning frost meant the greens had not been cut, so they were slow and bobbly. We did not play the course at its best, but we wouldn’t rush back. The Golfnow fee was good, so overall it was reasonable value for money, but…!

Beautiful Darlington GC

Second time playing here, and it was by far better than the first time...

Arrived at the course with my pal, Bill. Went to the pro shop to let them know we had arrived. The lads in the pro shop are so friendly, an absolute credit to the club 👍🏻

Onto the course, and I must say, it is in fantastic nick. We were told to use fairway mats or move our ball off the fairway to the first cut, which is totally understandable. The only downside is some of the winter tee boxes are not great.

Overall, I love this course, and will be playing it many more times in the future.

Good condition despite the weather

Had a good day in showery weather, course was in really good condition despite the weather, probably something to do with the mats that were in use ( not a fan but they work) Always a pleasant greeting, bar facilities good too.
