Another great round at Bishop Auckland

Played this course several times, in great condition, greens excellent. Staff in shop and bar always friendly. As with most clubs, the land dictates the layout, there are par five’s and par threes bunched together, but doesn’t detract from a great course, would highly recommend.

Beautiful Bishop

I got to BA golf club, and was greeted by a staff member in the pro shop who was very welcoming, and very friendly. I was informed that I had been put into a three ball with Bill and his nephew Thomas, both lads were top notch, it was an absolute pleasure to go round them.

The course itself, was a challenge that I really enjoyed. So many different holes, undulating fairways, views to die for, and the greens that were in play were fantastic.

Only downside for me, were the winter tees, and a couple of winter greens, if it wasn't for this, I would've given the course full marks. I will be back again, and if the winter tees and greens are gone then it'll be full marks.

A day well spent!

Great welcome from very friendly chap in the pro shop.

Played solo so I am always going to catch up with others on pace of play. Caught up with 2 ladies on 2nd hole, one of whom was past Captain. Joined them as the course was busy with 3 and 4 balls ahead. Played with them til 10th when they exited the course. Quickly played through by a 4 ball but then got stuck behind a 3 ball for several holes but they finally let me through on 17th.

Only one temp green, and usual greens were in good order.

Unusually layout with three par 5s in first 4 holes. Quite a hilly course, but worth the extra effort

Wet Bishop

The course is great and have played there many times but it was bordering on unplayable on Sunday. Extremely wet is an understatement.

A lovely scenic and varied course

We really enjoyed our first ever visit to Bishop Auckland Golf Club. The course is set in lovely countryside comprising rolling hills with fine views, as well as secluded “dingles” hiding almost secret par-3 gems. The holes are remarkably varied and interesting, and all end with very inviting well-kept greens. The course is spacious and we felt we played every hole in splendid isolation. From the friendly welcome on arrival and bargain price, to the excellent course in beautiful surroundings, it was a pleasure to visit, and we shall most definitely return another day.

Bishop Auckland (Winter)

Great course layout, certainly not flat, prepare for undulations.

Large greens in great condition for winter conditions.

Would visit again, look forward to playing this course in the summer

Really great first visit! We’ll be back.

Arrived with morning mist shifting the course. Fortunately, we had a rare day of Autumn sunshine which soon burned off the mist, unveiling some fabulous views.

Course was in excellent condition, despite the recent days of at times torrential, rain.

The course is an interesting configuration with the challenge of 3 consecutive Par 5 holes, early in the round 2-4, with 2 further par 5’s (9 & 11). The 72 handicap (yellow tees) is maintained by 5 par 3’s - none of them easy, particularly for our OAP 4-Ball of modest hitters!

The course is up and down - a deep ditch running across parts of the course. The greens, whilst true, have a wicked slope, not easy to read. The signposting was clear and we were able to easily navigate the course.

All in all, a day we enjoyed very much (despite the scoring!). Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. We certainly plan a return!

Very nice course and well kept

First time here and enjoyed the course. Staff were very helpful on arrival and the requested buggy was clean and ready for the off. Found the course a little quirky in places but no less enjoyable. Quite a few tees and greens were close together which slightly affected speed of play, but not dramatically. Greens maintenance was in progress in readiness for winter, so this affected our ability to gauge our putts. However it’s necessary and we saw it as an extra challenge. Had our holiday itinerary allowed, we would have returned for another game at least. Thoroughly recommended.

Canny course

Nice course just quite slow going decent layout I personally didn’t mind the 3 back to back par 5’s which I’ve seen a few comments on, I played with 2 members who’s first comments were I hope you brought plenty of balls, but that wasn’t the case if you just hit it straight, friendly members and friendly staff, overall a good course just a shame about the windy conditions course was in great nick
