Golfer Reviews
Beautiful yet challenging moorland course
A nine green and nine teebox eighteen hole course with lush fairways, very fast greens and surrounding heathland. The views across the Calder Valley and beyond were spectacular though through the week it was very quiet and the clubhouse was not staffed at all. With it being on a hillside, drives could bounce across fairways easily and as some cross over each other I would suggest downloading a map - as we confused the 3rd and 5th fairways. The holes were fair, the greens quite big but we found the very short challenging par 3 holes frustrating. If you have any mobility issues, I would not recommend this course as it’s very steep in places. We also play on a Pennine course but this is the first time I have seen a golfing couple taking turns using a pair of walking poles whilst the other pushes the cart!
Hidden Gem!! Breathtaking Views!! Warm Welcome!!
My partner & myself played here for the first time today on the off chance and what a course this is! The weather was excellent so made the views even more spectacular!
The course conditions for March were like playing in mid summer, and the fairways & greens were perfect! I'd even go as far as saying Championship course standard, Though greens very fast!
Some of the holes not for the faint hearted but exciting none the less.
Most importantly to us, the members and staff gave us a warm welcome and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
Will definetly be visiting again soon! And would encourage anyone who hasn't tried this course yet to give it a go.
One of the most beautiful locations I have ever played
Fantastic little course which gives just the right amount of challenge, the views are simply stunning. Very lucky to catch it on such a beautiful day. Club members and staff were incredibly friendly, even inviting myself and playing partner to join them for a club dinner that was being held that evening.
Fantastic course with spectacular views
Play the course most weeks, nice and quiet most nights and the views over the upper Calder valley are amazing.
Tricky course that needs careful thought and ball positioning for most holes.
Cheeky Nine Hole
Challenging cheeky nine hole,, played same holes twice to make up for 18. On a calm day with the right club it’s relatively easy but can be easily caught out on some of the cheeky par 3’s and end up losing your ball for ever.
Wouldn’t like to play it in the wind…
Tough
This for me is a placement course. To get a good card you needs accuracy with irons. I didn't use a driver but would on a couple of holes. I found there were blind shots off the tee on a couple and a few onto greens you couldn't see. But with more experience t wouldnt be a problem. I play off 12 but managed all par 4s on or around the green in 2 shots. The 2 tricky par 3s are a test as missing right leaves a big uphill lob onto the green. Hardest part is getting to the club. Just take it easy.
Challenging course
Awsome course awsome setting little bit windy but hey ho it is on the tops.
Couse was little confusing at first till we looked on the map on the back of the score card overall the course is in good condition green keepers were there maintaining the course which was good to see.,
First time here would defo play again
Good day out ,however no staff .

Quite hilly .
A must visit
Excellent condition considering the weather. Incredible views and some really interesting holes. A real hidden gem.
