Tough course, not in good condition.
We only played 9 holes as the wind was gusting so bad as the course is very high up over looking Oxford, it just made the game not enjoyable, but the lady in the pro shop/clubhouse said we can go back when the weather gets better & play the other 9 holes for free & she only charged us for 9 holes use of the buggies (her name is Carly)
Disappointing
I would like to say something positive about the course but really couldn't think of anything other than it wasn't busy.
I should have guessed given the confusing signage to the first tee, generally signage and directions were poor.
The course was more field with flags than golf course, most bunkers had GUR signs and looked shocking, the tees were the worst I've played on and the course layout is very poor not helped by the condition. Worst coarse I've ever played.
Definitely well over priced at £26, not a patch on others similarly priced.
A little gem
Driven past numerous times travelling the A34, always wanted to play , played it today and wasn't disappointed lovely friendly staff, challenging course lots of dog legs and sloping undulating greens lovely views of oxford even though it rained all round and very peaceful apart from the odd footgolf party
Look forward to playing again hopefully in the sunshine .
another good day out
hot and dry course on day of play, like most courses it was suffering from the long dry spell we are having, however they have been watering the greens and were in good condition, a couple of challenging holes, but on the whole an enjoyable round on a sunday afternoon, very quiet with few players so able to choose the pace we went round in. much better not to have to rush in this very hot weather, couple of places where better tee direction could help players find their way to the next tee, but overall a very good course
Panoramic
You would do well to find a course with better views. Booked online but unfortunately got caught up in traffic and so was late for my tee time. Called the course up and the friendly staff put my mind at rest. Really enjoy this course and it’s layout. Only downside is there is no sand in the bunkers so they are all GUR. Wouldn’t stop me from playing here again though.
Not good
Bunkers full of stones . Greens very poor very bumpy and not a lot of grass on many greens . Will never go back . Shame because course is only 800 yards from my home.
Superb views of Oxford
I have driven past Hinksey Heights many times and often wondered what it was like. Good points warm welcome from staff in clubhouse nothing was too much trouble , superb views of oxford and everything you could want before your round including a practice range , putting green and chipping area . The course is well laid out apart from long walks between holes 7 and 8 and 16 and 17. The holes are well designed apart from 3 (Stroke index 1) which is a bit mickey mouse. we played on a Thursday afternoon and hardly saw a soul. Bad points the club looks to be struggling financially . The driveway approach from the A34 and car park are both in poor condition . The access to the clubhouse is strange you go down a path from the car park between other buildings and a house. The course was in average condition apart from the bunkers which unfortunately are in very poor condition and some of the tees need attention. The range matting is uneven. In summary I am glad I played the course but would not be in hurry to go back.
