Extremely slow play
It felt like two many groups had tee’d off in close proximity to each other. We only played 10 holes due to this fact.
Could be better
Tee boxes need attention bunkers had very little sand in them some greens need attention and a few fairways need work although you can see they are starting to get the fairways better lots of areas GUR.
Flags are the same colour going out and coming in I played to the wrong green on the 16th played the 3rd which is next to it.
Still reminds me of a municipal course sadly
Just not there yet
Trying to improve what was a poorly run course but it's got years and years of work ahead of it. I have played this course over 50 times and I've never seen the greens in good condition putting on glass with holes in it. Hopefully the new management can get a grip of it and they have made slight changes in a small space of time. I wish them luck but I won't be paying £25 to play it again. Give it 5 years and I might try it again
Needs real investment
Love playing golf so was grateful for the opportunity to play. Sadly this course is in terrible shape. Greens are awful apart from the 18th. Hopefully the new owners make it a great course again. Also too many members of the public walking wherever they like
Greens in a sorry state
Lots of GUR and greens have recently been hollowed. Large amounts of sand on several greens made putting extremely challenging even without the hollow tine holes .
Not disabled friendly
At £25 at weekend not a bad course. However, when you can't use own buggy unless you are a member and have to pay £25 to hire a club buggy it's very poor value at £50 a round. Most ridiculous part is my own single seat buggy is more course friendly than the 2 seater club buggy. Felt like I was being discriminated against for not being able to walk 18 holes. Hopefully if they read this review they will change this practice.
Terrible condition
£20!!!
The condition of the course is a disgrace!!!!
Don't bother playing this course
Sandy greens
Course over all was ok and a couple of the greens the irragation holes looked bigger then usual and sand looked like it had been down for a while so didn't make for the best putting services, tee boxes were looking worst for wear and maybe need to use some temporary tee boxes to let the grass recover as some where just mood areas instead, but will come again as a good challenging course to play on
Up and coming
This course used to be a bit of a free for all (the pro’s words not mine) but they are now trying to make it a proper golf course and practice facility and I think they’re getting there. We played in maintenance week so the greens were a bit sandy but other wise the condition was good. Well laid out with a good mix of holes so you aren’t just using driver off every tee. I think in 12 months this will be mega. Staff are all great and the pro couldn’t have been more helpful
Poor greens
Personally I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone. The fairways weren’t too bad. However the greens are disgraceful. I understand this course has suffered from people riding bikes over the greens and causing damage. But the greens in general are shockingly bad. I regret not taking pics so I can show you just how bad they are. The tee areas are very poor too. For £20 a round it’s simply not worth it. My advice is, if you are a keen golfer like me stay away from this course. You won’t be happy. There are much better courses in the local area.
Good value and it will only get better
Been to this course twice in April. Course is well laid out and enjoyable to play. There are improvements going on… look forward to how it will look over time. Believe the course is under new management too.
Needs a lot of work
Played here a few times now. Every time I hope I see improvement on the course and I'm left disappointed. Some tee boxes can be described as below average at best. Greens are getting better but still very patchy in placed. Ball still plugging even after 3/4 days of sunshine and very little rain before that. Without serious investment the course won't get better.
Whoever puts the prices on Golfnow needs sacking.... £8.99 one day, £40 then next day for the same time for a muni course! Bonkers 😄
Frenchy
Very good conditions, once grass grows course will improve. Excellent staff friendliness will got back with friends.
Terrible
Borderline unplayable - course should not have been open. Was basically a swamp from the 1st to the 18th.
If some work got put in over the winter to protect the course then there would be a lot of potential, but they open regardless of the conditions and it’s ruined the course entirely.
The layout is great, with some tough holes but every good shot is dampened by the fact that the conditions were awful. I understand that this is sometimes out of their control, but when you have a hole with a mole hill on the green, it becomes a joke.
Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be playing here again.
Unplayable course
Booked to play today, the fact it was taken bookings told me it was playable, oh was that a massive mistake.
Had a little rain in the morning so I expected a little service water but what I was greeted to was dreadful, the entire course was waterlogged to the point you couldn’t even hit a ball, when back to the club house after the first hole which I didn’t even finish and informed the manager I think his name was Sean that the course was unplayable and should be closed, his attitude and response blew me away saying it’s his call not mine; to which I replied you go try hitting a ball out there it literally is impossible and your just destroying the course with the amount of turf your bringing up, the course should of been closed to let recover itself, the fact it was open was just pure greed to get money out of people and not putting the quality of the course first. No apology, no offer of another round when the course is in a better condition so paid £20 for me and a mate to not even be able to play 1 hole. So I will be avoiding this course from now on, shame as I’ve played it multiple times but seems to have gone down hill with the poor knowledge of the current management
Needs to close
Absolutely disgrace of a course. Don’t get me wrong, for 10 pound I wasn’t expecting Augusta. There’s more leaves than grass on this course. If it’s rained the day before don’t bother as the fairways flood. Bunkers often filled to the brim with leaves. Tractor marks across the course and the fairway grass is always very long. The greens are often bumpy and the cups are usually flooded.
The actual holes are interesting and if the course wasn’t in such dire state it would actually be an enjoyable round of golf. Huge reevaluation of the course needed.
