first time this year
course needs work hopefully when weather picks up, fairways have not been cut and greens need treating
first round at the port this year
Played Ellsmere Port for the first time this year, Course needs quite a bit of tlc does not look as if the fairways have been cut this year and no work on the greens which look desperate for some attention. overall for the money it was ok because we have had some awful wet weather which has not helped. hopefully the green staff will get stuck in as weather picks up.
£10 municipal - golf is golf!
I was 1st to tee off at 7am so pace wasn’t an issue. Lots of rain all over the country so the course was understandably wet with standing water in places. The course is fairly flat, I didn’t go in any bunkers, using winter tee mats which were pretty torn up, greens ran pretty well and I enjoyed it. Shot 81 as a 10 handicapper. The Captain was opening up as I got there, he was helpful and friendly. There is a hose to use for your trolley which was useful. There is a gym on site and a bar/restaurant although I didn’t use the facilities. It’s value for money for sure, struggle to get 2 pints of lager for £10 so 3 hours golf entertainment is good.
Muddy
For the price the course was fair, berry muddy so lost balls even on the fairway. Conditions not helped by still allowing buggies on the course and people driving them almost onto the greens. Also as there’s no plan on the scorecard and the holes are quite packed it wasn’t easy to follow.
Will be good...
With future investment this course will become a lovely course to play. Greens need major investment in and course signage to direct you to the next tee could be improved. Disappointingly we were not advised prior to our visit that temporary tee boxes were in use. Not withstanding the comments above an enjoyable round of golf was had, will play again in the future as very good value for the money.
Good value for money
Played the past 2 Wednesdays. Just over £8 a round. Can’t go wrong! Greens not the best however really enjoy playing the course
Great value for money
Played here twice now, £8.99 a round on a Wednesday can’t knock it! Friendly staff, greens aren’t 100% however I still enjoy playing the course
£16
£16 for myself and son (14yo so foc) to play and it was the only local course with tee availability on a Sunday so can't complain.
It was very busy and pace of play was very slow but we were not in a rush so didn't really bother us.
Greens not great but you get what you pay for.i guess.
We had a good morning together and everyone was friendly so would return.
Decent for the value of money
Greens an tee boxes just need a little work apart from that great course to have a knock on
Really disappointed with the course, the greens are very badly kept and the fairways for that matter, the whole course is just is bad condition, litter everywhere and just generally a mess. It's basically a public park with dog walkers freely walking across most fairways and even teenagers hanging out in the bunkers smoking! Definitely not a course ill be heading back to any time soon. The one positive - the chap in the pro shop was very friendly, outside of that there's not much positive to take away from this course unfortunately.
Poor course
When I arrived at the club house the man behind the counter was rude and even asked my age which I don’t think matters when it comes to playing a round of golf haha, Also the course was a shambles greens had more mud than turf and were rock hard.
Standard of the greens.
The course was in a very good condition, except the greens, which had little if any grass on them on most of the holes.
Decent value for money for a cheap knock
Decent course layout, some nice holes, but tee boxes and greens in poor condition. Can't complain for £15 a round at the weekend though. Good value for money
Didn’t even play!
Booked this course. Turned up and nowhere to park. they had decided to double book our tee time and couldn’t accommodate us at any other time as they where fully booked. Staff where unhelpful and said there’s nothing they can do. After travelling early to get here we where left with nowhere to play. Wouldn’t recommend playing here.
Good value course
The first time I played this was in Winter and gave up half way as it was so boggy and wellingtons would have been helpful. So was really pleased at the quality of the fairways when I returned last week. A course map on the score cards or arrows pointing to the next tee would be helpful as the layout is not obvious. There is a good variety of holes but big hitters will enjoy this long course. The greens need some attention but were playable. For £25 for 2 players you cant complain- excellent value.
