a wet boggy mess
we came on a damp and dreary Thursday morning. It had been raining the night before but not too heavy so we thought we’d give it a go as it’s our first time. the car park was wet and there is no direction to the first tee box (we looked and ended up on the 18th fairway and walked to the 1st). What can I say, bring your wellies. your ball will plug every other shot and the water will run over your shoes I’m a size 12 and that’s saying something. didn’t see a greenskeeper all day and the fairways are lined with seasonal trees meaning all drainage is blocked up by leaves that look like they’ve been sat there since last year also. the best part we’re the greens, still wet but on a dry day can imagine they are playable. not worth the £12 I would suggest taking your money else where. the amount of mud and water was just like I was playing golf in the swamps of the port.
Avoid with all costs, much better courses available. More money needed for drainage and upkeep as it’s in a dire state. All bunkers are GUR. Grass shooting through like knights grange and that’s been shut for 4 years.
it’s a crime scene.
Golf day
Played here for the first time in ages and it was great really enjoyed it thanks
Great little course.
First time playing this course and found it very good. Fairways and greens where excellent. Will definitely be playing this course again.
Challenging course
Plays longer than described good tee shots required to make second shots a lot easier he green's are a little patchy but roll true
Fantastic course
Very friendly staff and the course was in great shape. Would definitely come again
Great value
What can anyone complain about for £13 on a Sunday? We had a decent day. Course was pretty good. Greens were decent. Staff are always friendly. We will be back
Lovely staff and course
Had a great time here. Was really heavy weather but we still made the most of it. £10 for 18 holes and £15 per buggy. This is the cheapest I have come across yet
Needs work
Course not in best condition especially back 9. However, fairways were full of dog walkers, families walking and people collecting lost balls. Was ok priced but would not return sadly.
Terrible
Course was really poor. Greens were more sand than grass. Fairways uneven and dried mud patches all over fairway.
Have played the course about 5 years ago , was a much better course then.
Wouldn't play here again.
Poor condition
Not in the best condition. Dry mud and very patchy grass. Tee box conditions just not acceptable. Feral rats destroying greens. That being said, they did play consistent. I've played here for years and love the testing layout but I'm sad to say that today was my last. Good luck for the future.
Ellesmere Port
It was too wet to play - standing water and boggy - course should have been closed! It will be ok in dry conditions but we couldn’t even tee off at all
Work Required
In all honesty I believe that due to the amount of rain previously had, the course should have been closed as it was virtually unplayable
Aside from this I would recommend investment if they have any plans to lift it from being a municipal as this was apparent from the beginning
Good value
Decent course, only issue i had was the amount of standing water around the greens and in large parts of the fairways, made it really difficult in approach play, greens were surprisingly quick, but in all fairness for £12 for 18 holes on a Sunday afternoon I would be hard pushed to find better. Will definitely return but most likely when its dried out a bit.
Enjoyable
Nice course, clearly this time of year the course is not great in places as a bit muddy in parts and plenty of leaves equal lost balls but that’s what you get this time of year...pluses are the course isn’t busy so plenty of time for a few practice shots and chats
