Would never go here again
First and last time at Keswick golf club. The greens were the worst I have seen in 40 years of playing golf. Full of Moss and dead patches. The fairways were sodden and it doesn’t appear that they have been able to cut them at all this year. Way over priced at £30. Would not recommend to anyone.
Attention needed to greens
Greens not it great condition Black blotches over most of greens. Course played ok but also daisies on some fairways. Such a shame. Had been recommended to play it.
much improved
Played this course many times and twice since latest lockdown.Real effort made to improve the drainage which he course historically has been a real problem( plugging on fairways last July ).
Latest fortnight dry weather has helped a lot but it just looks a lot better kept and more playable .Greens are still poor in comparison to nearby courses but still early in yr and its been very frosty so will review them better in 2 mths time .Lots of good improvements to pathways which again was much needed.
Overall much improved experience from last yr when it looked like the course was on a downward spiral but shows what a bit of money can do.
I think they are still working on the greens but all good
Fantastic Views
Challenging course but with some subliminal views of the Lake District mountains from all around the course.
Keswick
Very good course nice lay out .A it soft due to the bad weather we have had but when the weather changes it will be even better some nice challenging holes .Good set up .friendly staff made us feel welcome .food was good as well .would go back and recommend it to people to play.
Keswick
Good course, great views. A little damp in areas.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Never Again !!!
On arriving it was unclear where the first tee was and there was nobody to ask/everywhere was locked up. The course was in very poor shape and extremely boggy, We lost multiple golf balls from straight drives which apparently plugged on "The Fairway" which was long and unkempt in many places. The course layout itself was good although it is the first golf course I have ever played without a single bunker and therefore the course/greens lacked any real character. Would definitely not recommend or play again !!!
Stunning Location in the Lake District
We played this course last year and again did not disappoint , a great challenge with stunning views on a beautiful sunny day in September . The food and drink was amazing and the lay out in the clubhouse made us feel safe and welcoming in these strange times.
Interesting course
Great setting, friendly people who were happy to call me through (apart from the elderly lady who had taken literally 30 hits to reach a par 3). Greens were poor, many of them bumpy and mossy, though I am told they have had rain for 3 weeks (this is the lake District, mind you).
Some interesting holes, with punishing rough, so s good test off the tees. I would come back
Great Location, Poor Condition
Always love playing golf in the Lake District and the views here are absolutely stunning. On arriving, however, it was unclear where the first tee was and there was nobody to ask/everywhere was locked up. The course was in pretty bad shape with parts of the fairway not cut and patchy; we lost multiple golf balls from straight drives... But the layout itself was enjoyable and, for a short course, it provided a good challenge.
Good course however suffering from saturated fairways
First time playing there it’s a great course but has suffered from heavy rain and fairways are overgrown and wet
Only volunteer green keepers I believe and pro shop no longer there
I worry for it’s future at one point considered asking for refund
Poor Course
Very sodden underfoot, poor drainage. No bounce on shots, fairways were poor, rough on the edge of the fairways was harsh and the greens were very slow and bobbly.
Diasappointment
Heavy underfoot with lots of standing water. Greens small. No staff present when we began our round - no signage to first tee. To be fair maps on tee boxes were helpful
Keswick
Booked on a Hot deal and well was it worth it!
The course was challenging but in lovely condition despite being boggy in places but the location is responsible for that . sandwiched between mountain ranges offers wonderful views. however , the thing which impressed me the most was a pictorial noticeboard at each hole outlining what lay ahead Which I found invaluable as it was the first time playing the course
Poor conditions, stunning scenery
Sad to say but this course has declined from when I last played, lots of tress cut and gone which form the holes, drainage seems worse than ever, lots of plugged balls on the fairway, and the greens are simply put, very poor, appear to not have had any care during lock down, patches dying off and no true roll on any. Really disappointing round. Shame as this course in some of the most beautiful surrounding scenery you could wish for.
A Bog
A friend has warned us it wasn’t a good winter course but even in July after one night of rain there was standing water everywhere which made shots out of the rough impossible, you were digging your ball out of the fairway and putting was like jet skiing.
Real shame the drainage is so bad as the layout and views are pretty good.
