Good Course - Needs more TLC

Chucked it down for most of the round but the course held up well. Whether it was because we played on a Tuesday or the rain the greens were quite long but consistent and looked like they were a couple of cuts away from being pretty good. Course interesting and although bunkers have multiple variants of sand and in some cases rubble within the general state was good. Played off white tees which added greatly to the challenge on par 3s in particular adding 20 to 30 yards to the 2nd, 11th and 18th which increased the challenge. Would have benefitted greatly to playing it with someone who had played it before to steer us round the multitude of blind Tee shots. Only downside other than the weather was the long, rough terrain walks between the greens and some of the next Tees as the pathway for golf buggies put a real strain on the trolley that has hard wheels and no suspension. Driving Range by the side and big putting green adds to it all. Although marked as average I have it as nearly good but just let down by bunker sand and some elements of care that demonstrate time and resource focus.

Summer first time played.

Overall it was a good day. As with most clubs on a Saturday the Tee sheets are mainly 4balls. Unfortunately for us we were a 2ball, which resulted in a 4ball round time. Which meant we could not sample the food or beverages afterwards. But from what we saw it looked as good as ever. Really friendly in the pro shop, engaging and offering tips for the game.

This is the first time I have been here in the summer (usually a good option in the winter months) and the fairways were full of bounce. The greens looked slow, but weren’t. My preference is the back 9 as it’s lower, less wind and more picturesque . The newish halfway house has improved on the old one offering cold drinks at a vending machine (maybe chocolate, didn’t spot any)

Some bunkers need attention as they had stones as big as golf balls in, some have been re sanded, so hopefully in time they all get attention .

Boys from Yelvertoft

Very tight course.

Found the rough hard to find your ball so hard work there

Three times I have played it now main with my irons.

Because of the long rough.

The only negative I could say about this course would be that the bunkers had a few too many stones in them but luckily I didn’t hit any, apart from that the course was really nice.

Will definitely play it again.

Nice Course

The course offers a genourous amount of width on most shots from the Tee and rewards accuracy. If you miss the fairway at any point and end up in the rough you might as well call lost ball immediately and save your time. The rough is extremely long and any high handicappers like me should budget for the loss of balls.

The lay out is fun and the 18th is a very nice hole over waterwith a devilishly placed bunker that put it right between clubs.

Drainage is excellent and the views are pretty. Whas not to like.

Entitled club captain and his posse

My buddy and I had just wrapped up a fantastic session at the driving range. There's nothing quite like smashing golf balls with the Trackman – pure bliss. After working up an appetite, we headed to the halfway house/restaurant/bar for some well-deserved grub.

The staff? Super friendly. The food? Absolutely divine. We were in golf heaven.

But then, things took a turn. Enter: a table of 8 middle-aged, entitled white men. They didn't ask us to take off our hats; they *told* us. Classy, right? They even cracked jokes about my friend looking better with his hat on. We chuckled, he put his hat back on, and we went back to our food.

But no, they weren't done. They kept demanding we take our hats off, pestering us like we were in some bizarre hat enforcement zone. Mind you, we were just minding our own business, enjoying our meal. But these rather overbearing bullies decided it was their mission to ruin our day.

The situation escalated quickly. We weren't about to let these insecure bullies boss us around. Next thing you know, we're squaring up with them – two lightweights against eight heavyweights. Over hats. Seriously.

Things got physical, and I ended up with a gash on my head, blood all down my shirt, and a broken watch. But hey, I was fine. Talk about an unexpected golf hazard.

Now, before anyone gets all technical, yes, we know some clubhouses have that silly "hats off" rule. But we had no idea, and if a staff member had kindly informed us, it would've been a different story.

Oh, and guess what? One of these entitled clowns was the club captain. Imagine that. Mr. Captain wanted to brawl to show off in front of his buddies. Classy leadership right there.

In the end, we decided to leave to avoid causing more trouble for the lovely staff. But here's a suggestion: maybe the club should rethink their choice of captain. Less entitlement, more sportsmanship, perhaps?

Will we be back? Absolutely. No overbearing bullies are going to keep us from enjoying golf. And yes, I'll be proudly wearing my hat in your clubhouse.

To future visitors: consider packing some boxing gloves in your golf bag. You know, just in case.

Beautiful location

This is a very testing course , with rough 2 feet tall. Go it at your perrin. A lynx style couses with a nice club house and a medium difficulty rating. The house is in fantastic condition and I have played here before.

The only disappointment was the slowwwww play. Easch time I play here it takes a long time to get round. Took me as part of a 2 ball 4.5 hours to get round with a buggie. And the previous time I played I have up after 5.5 hours on the 15th hole and walked off.

I was told to complain next time but a 2 ball should never be stuck behind 4 x 4 balls

Slow play

Caught a 3ball up who tee’d off 20mins before….didn’t let us through and had to wait for at least 5mins on each tee from the 6th hole! Nice course, just unlucky to be stuck behind really poor players

Great set up

Only disappointment was the quality of most bunkers. No real sand in them, lots of stones. The fairways, greens, layout etc are great.

Wonderful condition, always a pleasure to play.

The rough was tough, had to keep it on the fairway or take your medicine! Greens were excellent and we liked the addition of the new halfway house with toilet!
