Fair course with some standout holes
A definite course to keep it straight if you want to score well but if you do then lots of birdie chances especially on the Par 5’s. Some really good holes with the Par 3 6th a really fun hole. If the wind blows it’s a brute but course overall in good condition and facilities are very good albeit expensive for range balls on the Toptracer range - £12 for 100 balls if you are a visitor. It covers a lot of area with a few long walks between holes and with fairly high rough for errant shots it’s not a quick whizz round but would recommend you give it a try
Lovely overall condition
Greens very good, fairways very good except a few weeds, rough brutal but fair. Some bunkers full of big stones so should be great to prevent club damage
Bunkers in disrepair
The bunkers have large stones in them the surrounding rough also has large stones. I have damaged my iron badly after hiring a stone larger than an organelle in the rough just a few inches to on be the right of the bunker.
Be very careful
It’s a shame as it used to be such a lovely course.
Good course layout, some quality hole….but condition not so good
Greens had been hollow tined in preparation for winter!! fair enough as has to be done at some point but usually covered with fine sand to make it a bit less of a lottery. The main gripe was the bunkers……full of stones….big stones…..looked more like Bognor beach
Really great value
My second time playing Kilworth, ten years after the first when I ended up in the lake retrieving an errant 7 iron... really great conditions, excellent set up and facilities and great value for money.
Only issue was the pace of play, which meant the heavy rain we should've missed drenched us at the end, oh, and there was a herd of escaped cattle on the 12th...
A hot, slow round.
We followed a large society and took five and a half hours to get round. Lost five balls in the semi rough a yard in from the fairway.
Good course, shame about the snails holding everyone up
Have played kilworth dozens of times since I started playing golf 20 years ago but my last 2 visits have been some of the slowest play I have ever witnessed, sunday 21st round really took the biscuit 5hrs 20minutes to complete our 18 is just ridicolous and frankly a lack of marshalling does not help. It was mainly due to a 4 ball in buggies who after not managing to hit a ball over 200 yards proceeded to wait until the group on front were on every par 4 green before teeing off, on 13 we waited for them on the tee I managed to watch the last 10minutes of Man City’s first half and the full half time analysis before we as a group could even get on to the tee box.
Overall course is great, rough very long and narrow fairways make it a real challenge for the mid handicaps that we were but the pace play certainly doesn’t help get a round going. Seems some need to learn etiquette or how to play to their ability to not make it such a drag.
USPGA Rough
Lovely course
Great variety of holes
Pretty good nick
Good value
Knee length rough ! Bloomin Nora get a flame thrower on it
Good pace of play despite being very busy!
Very welcoming start despite a really rude customer in front of us demanding to play in a 5 ball. Course itself is in reasonable condition. The greens were quite bumpy and slow in comparison to when I’ve played here before (I used to be a member) but could be more because of the time of year. £32 is quite pricey for the quality of the manicure, but I’ve always found it an excellent course to play. Being a Sunday afternoon it was very busy, but the pace of play was good, completing in 4 hours 10 (included a bit of a queue on the 10th tee). Biggest disappointment for my playing partner was the standard of the bunkers. Newer bunkers just created had very fluffy and white sand. Older bunkers (the vast vast majority) looked like very poor sand, sometimes looking more like gravel! Thankfully I avoided all bunkers all day!
Good Condition, excellent greens
A steady start to the round, let through on hole four and the rest was at a two ball pace. The course was mostly firm and dry, the greens receptive to a well struck shot. For the time of year (end of April) the greens were in excellent condition, true, quick and even paced. The first cut of rough was deeper than expected and more penal so accuracy off the tee and on approaches is at a premium. The deep rough can be a card wrecker and could perhaps be thinned out a little. The sun shone and the round was enjoyable and offered good value for the condition it was in. We didn’t stay for a drink or food but there appeared to be good facilities. A driving range, putting green and short game area provide ample areas for practice and preparation so I would suggest arriving slightly earlier than 10 minutes before the tee time to avail yourself (as I failed to do). Overall a very decent course at a reasonable price.
