Average course
Average course few decent holes nothing special, decent conditions for this time of year to be fair. Booked 2 ball turned up on the day to be told another 2 are with us but luckily managed to split up as very slow - didn’t help much as stuck behind a 4 ball who had no idea throwing balls down searching around for balls every hole but still wouldn’t call us through - slow round wouldn’t pay 28£ for that again
Nice course and facilities
Bit worn down from winter. Bunkers need some tlc but it’s that time of year. Will be back as good course with nice bar food etc. staff great too.
Thx
Good value
Little Hay is a “safe pair of hands” for me. I’ve played there many times.
The tees could do with some attention and the greens could be quicker but what should you expect for £13?
Pity the bar shot at 3:30 on a Friday
Not value for money
£34 for a public course with greens in such poor condition is not at all appropriate. The course has far too many players allowed on at the same when the standard is understandably mainly mid to high handicappers creating exceptionally slow play. Finished a slow 9 holes to be presented by a 3-ball waiting at the 10th which ordinarily is not an issue but not when it is stacked up, club needs to limit this at weekends. Staff were polite, helpful. Course appears to be getting worse.
Early tee off
Weather was un predicted but sun came out had a cracking game of golf worth me mates. , fairways was cut good , greens had some damage done by birds but , part and parcel of a course being in the countryside pleasant round few beers after.
5 ⭐️for a public course
Greens terrible
Great value bet greens were like putting in a back garden -
Sunday morning
Tee’d off 10 mins late at 9.20am??? Due to a backlog …how is this possible at 9.20am . Where’s the course Marshall ?
Super slow play in front of us sometimes waiting 10mins on the tee box to drive .
The only time we saw the course Marshall was on the 10th looking for a missing putter from another player miles in front of us and not doing anything about the slow play . I’d never play at this time ever again as a total waste of money as it was impossible to get into the flow of the game
Very disappointing
Fantastic course for the price
Great course for the price. Greens are pretty quick and in good condition. Tee boxes were in good condition, with sand available to repair divots. Bunkers could do with tidying up. Range fence needs raising or repairing as there are a few balls flying over on a few of the holes.
Little Hay
Always enjoy a round or two here in summer, shame the bar doesn’t stay open a bit longer …
nice course badly maintained
I've played at Little Hay afet more than one year. The course is nice and entertaining, but this time I found it very badly maintained, mainly the greens.
The greens were full of hump/pitch marks, the grass very high and the speed was very slow, below any possible imagination. I do not think it will be difficult to recover, but some real green keeper work is required asap.
Pity as it was a nice course.
Surprised due to reviews
Great complex plenty of practice areas. The fairways were in surprisingly good condition. As for the greens they need some work but once you got used to the bumps and length of the grass there were playable. Great layout nice and open plenty of trees to get amongst, but always a shot out somewhere bunkers were pretty solid but just needed a good rake. Will be back to play again
Great day need more attention to greens and fairway cut
Due to heavy rains previous days before we played , some greens were very water logged but playable the cut on the greens need more attention , fairways could do with a shorter cut as well other than that weather held for the day and nice to get out and play , all in all a great game of golf on the bank holiday weekend 👍
good golf facility
nice layout, quite dry considering rainfall . long and short holes good variety. recommended.
Slow play!
Not in the best of conditions for the price,I know the weather has not been the best but other public courses are in better condition!
Greens were pretty shocking and the pace of play was terrible !
Shame because with a little tlc this could be a cracking place to play!
Staff were very friendly and attentive!
Shame
I’ve played this course more than any other probably. Mostly because without a membership it’s the only place around where you can get an early tee time. It’s an ok price as well, although creeping up in recent years to a point it’s no longer worth it. Eg for a couple quid more you can play Luton Hoo. My main complaint is the course conditions. Uneven lies on tee boxes. Fairways not cut well. Greens like a ploughed field. Why are 9 and 18th greens always like a swamp? Fairways covered in range balls. Bunkers rough as guts. It’s a shame because the layout is quite good. Pace of play is ok and they’re trying to stop people wandering on and playing without paying that was out of control at one point. Staff all seem very nice. If you can get a deal and are learning to play then probably an ok course. It’s in such a state now though that it’s a just not enjoyable. Shame.
Off mats!
I have played Little Hay many times and it is like an old friend.
The layout is good - but to protect the tees (presumably - or speed up play) we were off mats which made the course quite a bit shorter.
One observation (for many years now) the greens are very slow and bumpy (easy to blame when you miss that putt!)
It was still enjoyable and with a "Hot Deal" - fabulous value at £13.
Pitch marks not repaired
Overall for the price it's okay long challenging course. The course needs some attention especially the greens. Players aren't repairing pitch marks either which doesn't help. Could do with a fairway trim before spring.
Rubbish
This is a joke of a golf course
Firstly golf balls galore from the driving range over quite a few of the holes took ages to actually find your ball even if it was on fairway
The greens are an absolute shambles hae played on many a better winter green and we all know what they can be like
Was only a 2 ball but the 4 ball in front had no intention of letting us through obviously stuck up members
Seriously 1 of worst courses ever played
