Needs work
I have played this course on numerous occasions and this was the worst condition I have found the course in. Many of the tee boxes are bear or have large amounts of divots that require repair, the greens are very bobbly and gave many patches of diseased or dead grass on them and all the grass around the bunkers is brown and withered. It should be a lovely course if looked after but is rapidly degenerating.
Nice course and facilities.
I was returning to Malkins Bank having not played the course for 25 years and I was pleasantly surprised by how the course had matured, with the addition of tree lined fairways and a reversal of the holes (back nine now the front nine etc.). Just a couple of observations or improvements, the pace of play could have been better, there are 8 minutes between planned tee off times but a three ball jumped in the middle which increased waiting time significantly plus the greens were a little inconsistent varying from super quick to quite slow making this element of the game more challenging than usual.
Overall it was a great experience, the facilities are excellent and the course presents a decent challenge.
Great value for money
For £10 you get 100 balls on a range, we played a course . Some great holes and was it in perfect condition! No but for £10 it was the bargain of the year .
Clubhouse very friendly and food prices very good but don’t know how the food was as it was shutting as we finished .
My only moan is that course etiquette , even though has reduced over the years (for the good ) should still be followed.
I’m an avid believer that golf should be a sport for all but it still needs to keep a bit of dress code , shoes etc and not shouting from one side of the fairway to another .
Other than that can’t wait to come back for the price and try the bar and food out
Amazing for the price
Really don’t understand the negative reviews considering it’s £7.50 for 18 holes. It’s really well kept, the greens are good and it’s quite long so great value for money. Price will attract newer golfers so pace was a touch slow but honestly no idea how anyone could moan about this for the price. Would 100% return.
Good challenge
First time playing here and a good course. Grass on the fairways was a little long today. However will let this go as it’s been so wet and not easy to cut when this wet.
No staff
I turned up at 7,10 hoping to buy some balls and tees but unfortunately the club shop never opened in time for my 7.30 Tee time, luckily there was a young lad there who’s first day it was working there and he called someone for me and they said to get some range balls which was very good of them but I still had no score card to show me the layout of the course so slightly disappointed
Worst course ever
Loads of Karen’s, the guy in the halfway house thinks he’s Rocky Balboa, the greens are like concrete, tee boxes have been battered, wouldn’t play here again for free
Great course as local the staff are friendly and great helpful greatly appreciated as my time was 1:10pm and was allowed to tee off with a group off
Would recommend as course is a good walk not difficult great layout great people very helpfull I use when visiting my mother and are very helpfull as
A short notice thank you
Won't find a course as good as this at this price.
Malkins Bank
Played this course Sunday 18th June, considering how dry it has been, the course was in really good condition, the greens very good and fast, summer green fees the best value anywhere in Cheshire, I recommend this course to anyone, I will be back next week
Not in as good condition as it was
As with most things these days this course has gone in a downward spiral,I played this course many years ago and was impressed with it ,This is the 3rd time I have played this course in over 30 years and I have to say I didn’t enjoy it this time ,greens and tees in poor condition ….rough is very severe for a municipal course hence slowing up play.
Course review
Course was in pretty good condition, grenns were hard but running true, pace of play was little slow today unfortunately, as a two ball 2 hours for the front 9 was not great but once we played through after 9 it sped up a lot. The half way hut is now not manned however pies and pastys available from the bar (sausage rolls are excellent) very enjoyable experience, best value for money course in the area for many miles.
Great course
Really enjoyed playing here again course in great condition and the greens were best I've played anywhere this year so far
