Marple Golf Club

We played on a day when the weather forecast was pretty poor, and for the first 4 holes we did get quite wet, after which the conditions improved. As a result, there was virtually no-one else on the course, so we didn't have to wait on a single shot.

Although the course was quite wet in parts and there were a few temporary greens (which we were told about by the helpful lady in the shop), it was evident that the course is being well maintained, and I would expect it to be in great condition after some drier weather. Relatively short with a par 68, there are some testing holes and interest on most.

Overall, a really positive experience despite the rain, and I would expect we will be back later this year.

Throughly enjoyed my round at Marple I didn't play well but that was no fault of the course. I was playing with my son how also Throughly enjoyed the course we both enjoyed the layout and given the amount of rain we have had recently we both agreed the course was in really good condition. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and play there again or to recommend it to friends or golf societies I play in

Course advertised as 18 holes open with price of £25. Nothing on course own website to suggest otherwise. Only 9 holes open (1, 2, 6 & 13 - 18 closed). Also due to condition of course mats on fairways or move off fairways & mostly winter greens. We spoke to members on the way round who said course had been like that for weeks!!!

We would have booked somewhere else if we had known. Full details of restrictions should be published when booking or at least on course website.

Only 8 holes open.... all temp greens.... not what you want from a golf course when it shows course status open and no mention of the above until you arrive at the course which I such a shame as this is a very nice course.

Unfortunately the weather was bad for days before aomonly 17 holes open and 16 of those were on temp greens. Layout was good and I would like to play it in the summer to see what it is like then.

Marple isn't the easiest course to get to. A very narrow road in, but once there it's great value. Fairways were in superb nick for October as were the greens. Lots of interesting holes. Only negative for me is the closing 3 holes which are a funny layout.

Course was pleasantly surprising (after you find it). Great value for money and happy after booking on short notice. Pace was slow am which wasn’t helped there was a random group of 50 elderly walking round the course on a tour of some sort. Biggest criticism was pace of greens - they looked immaculate, but could do with upping the speed of them. Apart from that - Bob on

Played this course with my 15 year old son. Neither os us are super experienced but found the course to be fun, challenging and with a really good layout so you could keep your pace up play at a good level.

It is also a beautiful looking course with great views across Manchester whilst you play.

Teed of behind a 4 ball of mature ladies who graciously allowed us through on the par 3 second. Unfortunately then stuck behind 2 ball of late teen/ early twenties lads who went for the Bryson hit every time then spent ages looking for balls. No etiquette whatsoever.

A perfect day to walk around the lush fairways of Marple, soaking up the sun and views of the Manchester skyline in the distance. A well-kept and tidy course was a decent challenge on a warm June day. Would recommend this course to anyone!

Lovely course. Really well kept and great scenery. A real mixture of holes with something for everyone. Great, friendly atmosphere and brilliant staff. Amazing views of Manchester.

The course is great, staff really friendly. Course could be upkept better. The rough was a little wild and there was a lot of thatched grass which made it ridiculous to find your ball. The greens weren't the best. Also the hole boards could do with layout signs. But I really thought it was a good course. Good layout and enjoyable holes. Just needs so TLC

Played today, really friendly staff, course in good condition, my golf was dreadful but still enjoyed the day.

Enjoyed a round on a rainy day.

Weather had been bad for weeks but only got standing water on the greens after a real downpour.

Interesting course with some challenging holes and some interesting greens.

Could have done with a bit more signage for next holes but other than that a really enjoyable round.

Great view of Manchester skyline off the 1st.
