Superb value for money
Course was fantastic,! Tees, fairways and greens all in great condition. Love the layout here some fantastic holes. Bit of a walk between a few of the holes but great value for the money.
Nice course in beautiful grounds
Nice course overall with some unique and challenging holes. Could not fault the quality of the fairways and greens, some parts of course slightly unloved - and with a bit more TLC this could be a real gem.
Good value for the money. Nice clubhouse and gentleman in the starter hut was very friendly.
Great course
Had a great days golf . Travelled to Stratford upon Avon , the course is 5 minute drive away from the Center of Town where we stayed.
We played the Warwickshire golf club a bit further out on the Friday , on his occasional we could share buggies , The Welcolmbe insisted on 1 person per buggy made it an expensive round , hopefully this rule will change soon !..
would not deter me going back though
The Welcombe Golf Course
Decent course overall, some greens a little patchy and could maybe be in better condition. Very hilly with some blind tee shots but plenty of challenging and scenic holes. The par 5 16th especially with the hotel as the backdrop looks stunning and was a particular highlight. Pace of play wise, there was a bit of a snarl up towards the end where it took about an hour to play the last three holes. I paid £22 in total on GolfNow (one golfer), which I think was good value for money, though I’ve seen it priced much higher and would be reluctant to pay any more than £25.
Forced to have 1 person per buggy at £20 and holatised sandy greens
Go to course only to be told that it was 1 person per buggy and that that was "the law" (event though it is not) which meant we half the group were forced to walk or pay another £20 each for their own buggy.
Then to add insult to injury we got to the first green only to find that they had been recently holatised and were very bumpy and covered in sand! and on top of this - most of the bunkers were GUR...
Not happy especially at the price being asked.
A good test of golf.
A good days golf spoilt by extremely slow play. A society day of 4 balls in front of us held everyone up.
Off the tips - played July 2020
Played off the back tees and its a decent length. A number of blind tee shots, so helps if you have played with someone who has been there before. Some of the signage is a bit confusing (12 hole in particular - where the signpost points in the opposite direction to the tee!). Greens in decent nick. Fairly forgiving as the rough isn't to thick.
Varied layout
Excellent condition with many varied holes and superb greens.
Really enjoyed playing the Welcombe, challenging course and a tough walk, quite hilly but lovely scenery and every hole was different, played during Covid crisis so a lot of the amenities were closed
Having played this course a number of times (was excellent)I was disappointed with the condition of the course.the greens where absolutely rubbish, tee boxes hit and miss fairways ok.if you just went off the fairway you had no chance of finding your ball.. this place has gone downhill it reminds me of a very poor council golf course with very high prices £26 hot deal..£35 normal don’t waste your money. if you looking to play in Stratford I would recommend the Stratford park hotel (no I am not a member)£20 just 2 min drive away.
Rough too long
The course is great and generally in good condition. However, the semi rough in particular is too long, we lost a few balls just off the fairway in the semi which should not happen.
NeedsTLC
The course was ok but let down by the greens and rough.Greens were very bumpy and uneven, the rough was in desperate need of cutting. Fallen trees needed to be removed in one area.
These things let down what was otherwise a decent layout.
Not the law but in fairness it is following EGU guidelines as you can’t sit 1 meter apart in a buggy.
