Slow play

The staff were very welcoming when booking in but my group walked off after 5 holes as it took us 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete them 5 holes. The groups in front were all in buggy’s drinking alcohol and listening to load music. One person in the group in front took 10 shots on and wasn’t even on the green on a par 4. I had to drive an 80 mile round trip to get there too.

Pre game info

Be aware if booking through the GolfNow app that course info is not included. It wasn't till I checked in at the first that I was told that I needed to play off a mat from the fairway so had to go back up to the pro shop to buy one. Then as I walked off to the first tee I got told that I could only play 12 holes if I used a trolley, last 6 are carrybag only so again had to re-sort my kit so I could carry the full 18.

Course conditions were ok for time of year however it seems odd they check and insist you have fairway mats but don't check players have a pitch repairer,

Arrived to find that a 1/3 of the course was closed, after paying full price. Course was in really poor condition. I will never re-visit this terrible course

Surprised

Not played here for 20 years but was really surprised with how it played. Course, bunkers and greens in really good condition and good value for the £19 green fee. Can't say the same for the range price sadly, £9.55 for 50 balls on a very standard range is way over the top imo.

Incredibly slow pace

First off was unable to pay with cash due to a “security issue” but since I only had cash on me they let me on anyway?

Not sure in the point of the booking system as I’d checked online to see 16:50 free and also the times before and after. On a Sunday afternoon, I expected it to be fairly quiet however having turned up at 16:50, there was a two ball ahead walking down the first and a group just coming off the first green. Spent many holes waiting on the tee shot and playing solo there was no regard at all for letting me play through and it took almost 3 hours to complete 12 holes which is unacceptable.

Needs to be signs up specifying about slow play and to let faster groups through because it ruins the experience

Considering the weather, the course was in good condition although only the front 12 holes were in play, greens and fairways were well kept.

Middlesbrough municipal golf

Well laid out. Course in really good condition. Only gripe was that if you book via tee off times the course do not know this as there is no link. So you book a tee & turn up to be told that time is not available. Only a 20 min delay but could be problem if busy

Very good days golf at middlesbrough golf course

Quite a good golf course , seams like it's had a bit of money spent on the course for drainage etc ,the greens were in very good condition and fairways good and bunkers well raked ,

Rather disappointed though with the rough ,it was very rough no chance In finding a ball . All in all was a good day
