Golfer Reviews
A bystander while others have moved on
Such a shame to see this course in the state of neglect it has slowly become over the years. Used to be top class in what feels like a bygone era and competed with other gems in this part of the world. The course layout still stands up however everything else is in decay. Visited in late July, should be in peak condition. Where to start? Tee boxes - scruffy, uneven and long. Ball cleaners with no water in, rags for towels, signage rotting. Fairways, unkept, nothing nicely mowed, no shape cut, these used to look superb, striped 1st and 2nd cut noticeably manicured. Greens - amount of pitch marks is pure insanity. So many it was unbelievable, Greens were so slow, 1st cut so scruffy. Bunkers have fallen so far behind, they’re just kids sandpits, nothing cared for whatsoever. Really disappointing and it needs huge investment. Clubhouse terrace also falling to bits, rotten balcony, wobbly tiles, unsafe stairways. Honestly the amount that they have let this place fall is staggering. Real shame.
Great challenging course
Beautiful course, set in magnificent grounds.
When we played, the course was in lovely condition.
Watch out for the long rough though (note to self - keep it on the short grass!)
Some very challenging holes on the back nine.
Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Would highly recommend.
Absolute class course
Absolute class course couldn't fault a single thing wrong with the course....I think £50 pp in a 2 ball is a little bit pricey but played here probably 10 times and it always looks class
Slow play
Multiple 4 balls off with short time between group
Perfect time of night
We played the twilight time 6.30 and it was glorious.
I'm amazed
I'm amazed how good the course was we've had so much rain i don't believe many places would be playable nearly all fairway's we're dry greens we're decent no winter greens or mats pro shop very friendly can not fault it .
Pre Christmas Round
Considering the weather during the past month, the course was in brilliant condition.
Total value for money. Greens in great shape. No winter tres or greens.
Great condition
Played in November & December despite the heavy rain this year most courses have lots of restrictions or are closed this our go to course in the winter months full 18 holes great condition for winter tough back 9 great to enjoy a full game well done the greens staff 🏌🏼⛳️👍
Mottram Hall
A last minute booking as arranged 4 ball was postponed due to course conditions - as was the case with home course and many ither local courses. The cost was very reasonable and the course was in good condition given the recent rainfall - particularly the front 9. It’s a tough challenge at this time of year given its length - but most enjoyable.
Drive in thinking wow, drive out disappointed
Great staff and the venue is brilliant. However stuck behind 2 two balls who weren’t booked in and teed off when we should of. Took 10 shots to get to the green
The greens were awful, Fairways ok but we ended up picking up once on grean. Most courses fairways are better than the greens here unfortunately
Great course
Teed off at 8:50 and paid £30 for the tee time. Had never played Mottram before but we were extremely impressed with it. A lot of our local courses are £25 per round and nowhere near the quality of Mottram. A good mix of long, challenging and lovely holes made the experience an enjoyable one. The course was in great condition: no tee boxes, no temporary greens, no holding water, no bunkers under water, greens in good condition. We played on a Tuesday and there was no halfway house but that’s not a good enough to score the course down. Clubhouse was open and enjoyed lovely food after our round, although slightly pricey in comparison to the round. Will definitely return at some point.
Nice Course
Enjoy my first time at Mottram but very grateful for taking a cart as it’s extremely long.
Poor experience
Course was okay but not £50 in winter…
Pace of play was shocking …
No club house open to get any food just a tiny half way house offering bottled beer and no food left at 2pm.
