Mottram Hall

First played end of March in horrendous weather. Gave up after 14. Some holes were that boggy was amazed it was open. Booked this with trepidation. However, what a pleasant Surprise. No drainage issues at all. Fairly quiet on the course. We actually went round in about 3 hours 15! Greens were the standout for me. Really pure. Also scored 5 under my handicap. That always helps!

From morning coffee to the pro-shop, buggy's and general help. The course considering the rain early in the week was magnificent and far better than any of us expected.

Front 9 flat and fairly easy, back 9 real challenge.

Course was in excellent condition with the rain we’d had. Greens were true. Thoroughly enjoyable round.

Beer in clubhouse expensive

Great course to play, lots of thinking required.

Keep it straight as the second cut of rough generally means a lost ball.

Good clubhouse, friendly staff, decent food and drink at the end of the round and the clubhouse remains open after dark.

We both paid £30 each for 18 holes at Mottram Hall on a Saturday afternoon (not too bad). We played the first 9 hole in good time but the second 9 was slow with delays on most tee shots. Just managed to complete 18 holes before the light faded.

The pace of play was poor but it was a nice afternoon so I enjoyed the scenery.

Played Mottram for the 1st time in several years and as usual it didn’t disappoint. Course in excellent condition and pace of play was very good. It’s a long course and provides an excellent challenge for all levels

Such a shame to see this course in the state of neglect it has slowly become over the years. Used to be top class in what feels like a bygone era and competed with other gems in this part of the world. The course layout still stands up however everything else is in decay. Visited in late July, should be in peak condition. Where to start? Tee boxes - scruffy, uneven and long. Ball cleaners with no water in, rags for towels, signage rotting. Fairways, unkept, nothing nicely mowed, no shape cut, these used to look superb, striped 1st and 2nd cut noticeably manicured. Greens - amount of pitch marks is pure insanity. So many it was unbelievable, Greens were so slow, 1st cut so scruffy. Bunkers have fallen so far behind, they’re just kids sandpits, nothing cared for whatsoever. Really disappointing and it needs huge investment. Clubhouse terrace also falling to bits, rotten balcony, wobbly tiles, unsafe stairways. Honestly the amount that they have let this place fall is staggering. Real shame.

Course was in great condition, staff were friendly and very helpful. Will definitely be coming back

Beautiful course, set in magnificent grounds.

When we played, the course was in lovely condition.

Watch out for the long rough though (note to self - keep it on the short grass!)

Absolute class course couldn't fault a single thing wrong with the course....I think £50 pp in a 2 ball is a little bit pricey but played here probably 10 times and it always looks class
