Challenging Course
This course is harder than it looks with elevation changes, dog legs and sloping greens. It's clearly been well designed and will challenge all levels of golfer. Given all this and the wet condition of the course, it was a slow pace of play. We were a 2 ball with no hold up and it took us 4 hours. If you're not in a hurry and like a challenge, this the course for you.
Normanton
An excellent challenging course in magnificent condition. Played it as a mixed four all and the Ladies found some of the holes a little too challenging , particularly the long par 5s and the fiendish 18th. However they loved the first half. Fairly wide fairways, so not a ball gobler
Personally I thought it one of the better courses in West Yorkshire an can’t wait to play it again
Stormin’ Norman
The greens had just been worked on but were still running true. The fairways were in good condition despite the lack of Irwin. I thought the renovation of the paths were excellent and improved the look and feel of the course
Excellent greens
First time playing this course. Certainly won’t be the last, looking for a new membership and seriously considering Normanton Golf Course, the greens are particularly well looked after.
Enjoyable golf
Warm welcome from the PRO in a nicely stocked shop.
Front 9 has some really interesting holes that require various decisions off the tee. Do you smash driver at the green or plot a safe path with an iron? Back 9 is a little more up & downy but plenty of opportunity to open the shoulders with driver from elevated tees that provide nice views of the surrounding landscape. 18th tee shot was a memorable carry over the feature lake with a second shot played uphill to a 3-tiered green, framed by the beautiful Hatfield Hall in the background.
Greens are a good size with great contouring. However,, due to hollow tining they were quite bumpy. Hopefully the work done will prove to be worth while in the coming weeks heading into summer.
Value for money at £28..? I’m not sure, but overall an enjoyable round of golf.

Winter
Still had winter tees on par 3 a lot of people allowed to walk through the course
Some greens in poor condition, winter mats on some holes but tee boxes fine
Greens not very good all spiked and abit Sandy also matts on all par 3's
Tough Conditions
My review is based on playing after a week worth of rain. Temporary tee’s in place which were fine, greens in amazing condition and challenging. The fairways were very boggy and overgrown but obviously down to the weather. Play was slow at time’s and got queued up on the back 9. Would defiantly like to play again in dryer conditions.
Great course
Really enjoyed this course despite the bad weather. It was boggy in places and the bunkers were a bit hard and needed some more sand in but the greens and overall condition was as good as can be expected. I’m sure that I’ll be back there soon
There's a reason why it's always busy.
A well maintained course that is always busy.
The greens are in fantastic condition especially at this time of year. Boundaries are put up to prevent buggies/carts to go near the greens that help preserve them.
The course is well layed out with a good mixture of short and long par 5's and likewise with the par 4's. Next tees are well sign posted.
Pace of play has never been the quickiest here, so take tour time.
Stff are friendly and social distances is applied for covid 19. Well done Normanton.
The course was ok for what we paid
Course was ok shame about the slow play ,members 4 ball not allowing a 2 ball to play through. Signage from the 6th to 7th could be a lot better if you left via the wrong gate you ended up wandering around the back of someone’s house . Eventually found a small sign on a wall .
