Very Enjoyable
Nicest course I’ve played on in the area. The food hut was a nice touch after the 9th.
Challenging
First time playing this course. Very green and quite scenic. Challenging back 9, mainly uphill. Hence why you see a lot of buggies on this course. Unfortunately hit a bit of slow play on the final 9. Nice lay out. Plenty of water features. Fairways probably needed a bit of a trim the day we played. Greens in decent condition and hard to read pace. Paid a good price to play. But wouldn’t want to pay anymore. Nice club shop welcome though.
Normanton golf course
I’m new to this course with today’s round being only my second here. The course and grounds are absolutely gorgeous, well laid out and is a solid challenge to most golfers. The course was absolutely lush and bunkers were in great condition with plenty of decent sand. I have to say though that the greens are just awful. Too soft and bumpy and slow. Took a 3 on most greens and a lot within 3 feet because you just can’t control direction. If the greens were fixed this would be the best course around by a country mile and I’d probably look for membership. This will in no way however stop me going back every Thursday .Thanks Normanton GC
Great course, shame about slow members not allowing faster group through.
We have played this course a number of times, its a great course in good condition. Challenging at times and in good condition.
sadly the round was spoiled from the 4th hole onwards. we were playing as a 3 ball, with handicaps ranging from 14-18. The 4 ball in front of us, obviously members were well aware we were behind them yet on every hole failed to allow us through. The holes ahead were clear!
I appreciate that they were members on their own course, in a 4 ball BUT in this day and age surely have the decency to allow a faster group through when we were waiting on EVERY tee from the 4th hole.
Good variation of holes
Thoroughly enjoyed round , course in great condition greens fast and receptive great variety of holes friendly staff will return
Every challenge to expect
Loads of bunkers, water, slim fairways, trees. Good good well looked after course and we loved the day
Brilliant course with a great variety of holes, greens were running fast and true. Would play again, great value for money.
Poor greens
The layout and course including condition is a pleasure to play, can get quite hilly at times but your mind is taken off that by having to manage your way round a good thinking golfers dream. The staff in the bar and pro shop were very pleasant and welcoming. The only down side but a very big and importantly disappointing fact is the state of the greens. This time of year you expect spiked greens and that’s fine but the amount of small divots and bare chunks on the greens did not leave one rolling putt all round. The pace of the greens were like lightening but at times you could have turned 45 degrees and still ended up on the correct line after the divots had changed the trajectory. It left a sour taste in what was otherwise a good day.
Cracking Course
Greens Bunkers Fairways all in great condition’ staff were all friendly
Avoid seniors
When we played it was windy, very windy. Ball blowing all over the place but the biggest gripe was the pace of play. Seniors, 2 groups in front of us in carts. I’m 62 but christ they pace of play cheesed us off ( put something else but the text police banned it) 4 & 1/4 for a game is not acceptable.
Still a little soggy in places some of the greens a bit patchy due to the bad weather, but I have no doubt this course will be exceptional in the next few weeks

Brilliant value, took advantage of a hot deal. First time I played the course, and considering it was January the course was in brilliant condition. I hopefully will play again when the weather gets better. I would recommend this course, a great variety of holes with plenty of water.
Varied holes, good condition
Having booked the "cheap" lunchtime slot at £10 each this was excellent value. We have played before and always enjoy the variety of holes. Par 3s are mostly short but we like that, with the longer holes all offering a different challenge. Bunkers and water are well (cruelly?!) placed. We certainly saw plenty of them! Greens fast today and many multi-tiered, 2 putting was the target. Nice bar, if a little quiet. Friendly and honest locals, especially the one who found my lost i-phone on the first fairway!!
Great course and excellent value
We had a fourball for £12 per man, which was excellent value for money.
Interesting layout with quick greens. Friendly clubhouse bar afterwards too.
We will be back!
A great find
Four of us played the course as a warm up to a stay at Oulton Hall which is only 10-15 minutes away. The course was in super condition. Everyone was teally friendly and we had a great all day breakfast in the clubhouse prior to playing. There's a lot of water hazzards on the course so course management is key - overall a good test of golf for all abilities. Will definitely return if we are in the area.
Hi mate, you should have definitely made the comment to them on etiquette, we did on the 10th tee ,a slow 4 ball held 3 groups up on the front nine and then they had a break at the golf hut and decided to rejoin their round just as we got to the 10 th tee we promptly made a comment as a relatively quick 2 ball and they let us through, no exudes no fall out, just a gentle reminder was needed
